Hi I have been taking Norethisterone for just under a week and today I am being trained on how to inject myself. Feeling nervous as I pass out at sight of needles but know I have to man up and do this. Anyone had the same experience and have any tips? Also how long do you usually do the injections for? Thanks x

Hello Magic80 don't know helpful i will be as I'm not scared of needles. But I was still apprehensive about having to do them. I promise you, you will be jabbing yourself without giving it a second thought in no time. The needle is really small and I found the best place was my stomach. I did inject in my upper thigh a few times but found this site a bit tender while stomach fine. It doesn't really hurt you just feel a little pin prick.

I was on the long protocol so was d/regging for 4weeks then started stimulating injections for another 11 days. So a good 5/6 weeks. I was on a high dose of menpour so at the end I was doing 3 injections an evening so I'm now an old pro.

Hi missmmc,

Thanks so much for your reply, it is good to know that it is something that gets easier! And thanks for the advice about stomach rather than thigh, I must admit I've been a bit of a weirdo this morning pinching myself in both areas to see which hurt less haha. Good luck to you with everything x

Your welcome. In a weird way I enjoyed the injections as finally things were moving in the right directions. Once you start it will go quickly and before you know it you will be getting ready for EC!

Unfortunately our first cycle ended with a chemical pregnancy so waiting to start our next cycle. I wish you all the luck in the world so fingers crossed for both of us xx

Hello, I was seriously squeamish about it, and actually considered not going ahead because I was so scared of injecting.

It really IS absolutely fine, I promise you. My husband did my first 3, the first being the worst but only because mentally I got myself into such a state.

I was absolutely fine to start doing this by myself and I do it now without a moment of thought.. and I agree that you get a weird kind of enjoyment out of it after a while, as its all about DOING something finally.

Good luck to you, you will be absolutely fine I promise x

Hey missmmc and maccerpops,

Well.... I was fine just like you promised! I had my game face on and just concentrated on 'educating myself' with what the nurse was showing me. I must admit I hesitated when it came to actually injecting myself but after 2 lots of my husband and the nurse counting me in on 3 I did it... And it was fine !!!! Oh god the relief was ridiculous and I high fived the nurse who was most amused and said that had never happened before haha. And I totally agree it was good in a weird way as I feel like it's all happening now.

I take my last 2 norethisterone tomorrow then wait few days for period then it's injections for about 12 days then the big day

. Can't believe it's potentially 2 weeks away.

Thanks to you both for your support you really did help calm me down.

Missmmc It can only mean your one step closer. We have to remain positive that our time will come. All the luck in the world to you both xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
