Dear ladies, hope all are good. I am currently 7 weeks running. I am using cylogest pessary twice daily and need to continue upto 15 weeks.I used to take it vaginally but its really irrigating after some time its melting and come out. I had used also rectally. But I am afraid of rectum as I am using twice daily. Sometimes it also causes some burning but after sometime it became ok.Which route would be better actully? Is there any problem anyone faced.

I used it rectally and found it very easy, less messy and you can just get on with your day, no lying down. The only thing it did sometimes was make me want to empty my bowels and you have to wait at least 40 mins. If rectally is also uncomfortable for you and burning, I would go back to your consultant to see if they can give you progesterone via injections - I.e. Lubion. Good luck x

I tended to do my nighttime one vaginally and my morning one rectally. But I did have some bleeding at some point so I did them all rectally. But I would mention to your consultant if both ways are irritating/hurting xx

Same, rectally was so much easier for me with no mess. I'd occasionally do the evening one in the vagina if I was already laying down (I was doing 3 a day so had one at night). But after some spotting in early pregnancy I went to all rectally. I didn't get any burning though, that definitely doesn't seem right, and you might need a different type?Any in the front is very messy and the casing does come out even if you lay for 20 mins!! See if clinic will offer you something else??

Hi. You may have developed a bit of thrush, so speak to your GP who can prescribe something to get rid of it. Don’t be scared of using pessaries rectally while you get over this, as the progesterone you need, gets absorbed in 20-30 minutes, so anything that leaks out isn’t needed, same with the vagina. Hope all soon settles down. Diane
