NIPT paramount or harmony? Cost?

Hi ladies, hope your journey is going well. I had a private scan at an EPU clinic and I was asking about NIPT testing. Apparently there are two types but the receptionist didn’t have full information on them. So was wondering if anyone knew the differences between harmony and paramount? And also costs and clinics you used to get the test please. I am based in London. I was advised that it was best to do at wk12 due to accuracy of picking up DNA. Thank you xx

Do you mean Panorama? It’s a bit more sensitive for the trisomies and can also test for microdeletions. I wouldn’t go for the expanded panel other than doing DiGeorge syndrome as the false positive rate for rare things is unacceptably high. I did Panorama for both of my pregnancies as it’s just a bit better than Harmony. Have a read here: gynae-centre.co.uk/blog/whi... xx

Thank you, can you please advise me how much you paid for it, if that’s ok? Thanks

It was £450 including a scan. They do the scan to make sure NIPT is appropriate ie no glaring abnormalities xx

Thanks, was this done by a London based company? I’ve been quoted £405 without a scan as I will be having a NHS literally at 12 weeks and going for blood draw day after. If it’s London based can you please send me the name as sounds cheaper than my one. Thanks xx

It was Cambridge not London. They don’t do the test without the scan so would end up more expensive for you xx

Hi there, sorry which one was £450? I don’t see anything on the website for that price!

Hi I had the panaroma in the end at £405 as did not have a scan, but had to prove I had a scan within 10 days of getting the test. Did you want me to send you the clinic details? As not quite sure from your message…

Hi! I'm 10 weeks and 2 days and I did my nipt harmony test yesterday. I'm in Australia and it seems most people go for the nipt harmony which I've heard is very good

Thanks, were you advised on a specific time to do it? I’ve been told to wait til wk12?

ok no worries, we get told here to do it anytime from 10 weeks onwards, my gp told me to do it at 10 weeks so I did

We did ours at 13 weeks, I looked back through my emails but all it says is Vision IONA. We went for it because baby wasn’t behaving at the 12 week scan so couldn’t do all the nuchal checks etc, and it was our very last attempt at IVF so I just needed to know. It cost £400, worth every penny! The whole experience was really nice actually, made up for the awful 12 week scan.

Sorry forgot to add context - they said that the more things you test then chance of accuracy goes down and you can do harmony from 10 weeks x

Thanks for sharing that, the consultant who did my early scan said he prefers to do the test at 12 weeks to ensure that the blood draw has enough DNA. Did you get yours done in London? X

Hi! I replied to you the other day, I did nipt harmony and got my results yesterday everything low risk and found out it's a boy I'm having, I only waited 3 working days for the results, I just wanted to let you know that the nipt harmony is very good, I was only 10 weeks and 1 day when I tested and there was enough fetal dna to do the test, I wish you all the best

Thanks Asha for letting me know and I’m really happy to hear that all is low risk for you, congrats on finding out the gender, how exciting for you! Great they came back in 3 days too. Don’t know how long they take in the UK, I suspect it depends on how busy the lab is… mines is currently booked in for wk 12, I might see if I can move it up based on their availability. Wishing you all the best xxx

I was offered the NIPT at my NHS 12 week scan, in my area its offered to everyone so might be worth asking your midwife to see if you can get it done on NHS for free before paying private.

What area are you from? I’m based in London.

South West. But if you give your midwife team a call they will be able to tell you if there is a criteria for geting the test on the NHS and if you meet it
