I am 21 weeks with a placenta at the front. I just wondered when everyone felt baby? I’m not aware of feeling anything yet. A few gurgles like I’m hungry or windy but that could be hunger/wind 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ just had 20 week scan and all looks well I just wondered what I’m supposed to feel xxx

My placenta is at the back so my experience is likely to be different but at first it was like a twitching, fluttering for a couple of seconds (think twitchy eyelid or wind). Which has now progressed to feeling like rolling at times and poking that actually feels a bit like a prod ( I imagine is more like a stretch and that’s more in the area of my bladder).

I felt it flutter maybe once a day at first and only when sat quietly and mainly around eating sugary foods. I still don’t feel him much if I’m busy.

I know this sounds weird but it doesn’t feel like wind and you sort of know it’s not you moving. Very very hard to tell if wind or baby at first though!

Hopefully won’t be long.

I had a front facing placenta too, and remember at my 20 week scan the woman asking if I had felt movement yet (I hadn’t), and I panicked myself! As it was my first pregnancy, I didn’t really know what it should feel like, and it also wasn’t until a later midwife appointment that I found out it was front facing, so it made sense that I hadn’t felt it yet. I think I started to feel what I thought were kicks around 24 weeks xx

Anterior placenta is super tough when it's an IVF pregnancy - on my 3rd with it. Just had my 16wk scan and fretted the whole time leading up about whether it was still going. (OH hates it - scans every 4 weeks starting at 12 wks and I can be in tears leading up to each worried that it's going to be bad news.) Agree with CJohns takes until closer to 3rd trimester to really feel stuff consistently. They'll also struggle with doppler to find HB sometimes and later fetal monitoring devices may be spotty. Scans aren't as clear and it's harder to get them to get the fetus to move if it's possitioned wrong. Worst part is later when you start to do kick counts, I could only feel them for sure when they were on the sides (oblique area) - so often sent myself into a tizzy. Good times ahead - hope you deal with it better than I do 😉

Good luck!

Hey Boo, hope you're doing well. I don't know if you remember but we had a PM conversation around a year ago about going abroad. I had asked a few qs about seeking treatment abroad and you were kind enough to share loads of info over PM which really encouraged us to pursue it. We did (treatment in Spain) and I am now 26 weeks - I can't thank you enough for contributing to that push that I believe got us here 🥰As I said I'm 26 weeks now, and have placenta at the front too. I was also worried about movement, only feeling a few twinges at 20 weeks that I just wasn't sure were movements. Around 23/24 weeks these became much more pronounced (like pokes and prods, some swirling feelings too) but still quite sporadic. Now at 26 weeks I feel movement on and off all day which I'm finding so reassuring after always wondering just what's been going on in there!! As the baby grows they have much less room to move around so hit the 'sides' much more often...you should start to feel clearer movements in the next few weeks as they fill out the space you're lovingly providing for them ❤️

I hope everything continues to go well for you and you have a happy and healthy pregnancy, I'm so pleased for you.

Thanks again for the encouragement and information which led us to this point, I'll be forever grateful 🙏🥰

Hey! I also have my placenta at the front and the midwife said I might not feel anything until up to 24 weeks. I was lucky and actually began feeling movements from 19/20 weeks. It started off feeling just like subtle muscle twinges and gradually got stronger. I’m now 26 weeks and can feel really strong movements but everyone is different so please don’t worry. I know you’ll want that reassurance so much but it will come. Give it until 24 weeks and then go back to your midwife I’d say. It’s horrible that even when we are pregnant the anxiety never goes away isn’t it? Fingers crossed for you xx

I also have an anterior placenta. I started feeling the baby move at around 20 weeks but it was hard to identify. To start with I couldn’t tell the difference between normal stomach gurgling and what was the baby moving. But I promise you it will become clearer and very obvious soon, so don’t worry. I’m 37 weeks now and can visibly see the baby move and poke my whole stomach and feel sharp kicks in the sides. It’s so weird but lovely as well. X

I have anterior placenta too and really wasn’t feeling anything until ~24 weeks when I started feeling some light twitches. Movements have gradually strengthened but even then, on some scans, we’ve seen the baby moving and I couldn’t feel anything 🤪. Easier said than done (I was worrying myself), try to give it a bit longer. Even at 24 weeks, my doctor said movement patterns can be a bit sporadic. My midwife advised me to contact them if I wasn’t feeling anything by 24 weeks.
