I had my 12 week scan which was incredible to see little bubba jumping around, but i was a little anxious because my placenta is at the moment, anterior, and low lying over my cervix and c/section scar. This doesn't sound like a fabulous scenario from everything i've read... 😩
Does anyone have any experience of this and whether theirs moved away from their cervix and c-section scar? The anterior placenta is a shame as i've been told I will most likely need another c-section but possible attachment to my previous scar is worrying me more!
Thank you in advance!

Congratulations on the good news! Don't know about the C-section scar but keep us updated as I had a section and would be good to know others' experiences. Re anterior placenta, I had this and was told it was low and close to/covering cervix but they said in 90% of cases it moves up by the time you're ready for birth and isn't an issue - that's exactly what happened with me and a load of other women I know but the extra scans and monitoring were reassuring.
Hey, can I ask at what stage your placenta moved? I’m 32 weeks and mine is still partially covering my cervix. Is there still hope before my next scan at 36 weeks? Xx
Sure, I can't remember exactly but it had by the next scan after the 20 week one, so maybe around 24 or 28 weeks. It had completely moved up and out of the way too so they said it was no longer something to monitor by that stage. My SIL had the same thing but hers didn't move up enough until much later - more like 36 weeks and think she had scans every couple of weeks to keep checking. Might be best to ask a new question on here or on the NCT forum so you get a few responses x
At my 20 week scan they discovered my placenta was completely covering my cervix and they think it’s attached to scar tissue from two myomectomies (essentially same scars as c-section but fibroids removed instead of a baby!)
They will monitor it at 20 weeks and see if it’s moved - which the majority do, and again at 30ish weeks.
Mine hadn’t moved at 24 weeks so at 30 weeks they are sending me for a special Doppler ultrasound and then MRI to assess things.
The main risk is when they don’t know about this, the fact they have and you still have heaps of time for it to move is all good news x
I have been told I am definitely c-section. They are scanning me every four weeks to check baby’s growth and they said if it is stuck to scar tissue it depends how badly. If it’s not too bad it’s just a case of having the top guy at our local hospital doing the section and a blood transfusion machine ready, worst case yes a hysterectomy. However if it’s badly embedded they might refer me to a clinic in London that specialise in it for my delivery and may deliver earlier than initially planned. They are particularly worried as I have had a lot of gynae surgery so my risk of scar tissue is a lot higher. I have stopped googling and just keep telling myself we can’t do anything about it and as long as they know the risk is low (that’s what my midwife told me). Not that that stops me worrying lols! I guess we both have to hope it’s not the case and as I say yours has loads of time to move so I’m 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for you xx
Thank you for sharing all that info - that's really helpful to know! aim keeping everything crossed for you that it's not attached and ends up being straightforward! Can i ask what hospital you are with and what london hospital they said specialise in these cases? Thank you 🙏 xx
