Baths

Happy NY! I’m now 18+1. Am probably being very paranoid but I haven’t had a bath since I’ve been pregnant, just showers! I really miss having a bath but I feel worried it won’t be good for the baby/movement etc. Please tell me if I’m being silly 😂

Your being silly.... As long as the water is not too hot then having a bath is just fine... I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have had a bath every other day no issues what so ever.... And baby is just perfect.

Thank you! I thought as much 😂 how do you work out how hot is too hot? X

Happy new year! Luckily we can have baths and they’re great for pregnancy aches/pains. They shouldn’t be more than about 37c, if you’re paranoid (like me) or just have no idea what 37 degrees actually feels like (also me!) you can get bath thermometers for a few quid on Amazon. You’ll also get a lot of use out of it once baby arrives x

Thanks! I was brave and had one ha! 😂 it was barely warm though as was worried, think I’ll do that great idea as I’m terrible with guessing temperatures! X

I had baths throughout! Just bought a small thermometer to check temp. Basically water was never hot enough to turn skin red. Enjoy them i say. Not had time for a bath since little one arrived! 🤣🤣🤣

That’s good advice! No red skin and maximise my own bath time now while there’s a chance! 😂👍🏼

Glad it’s not just me then 😂 did you feel paranoid about them too? X

yep completely paranoid that the hot water would make me cramp or something… also since I had the haematoma my consultant said to avoid them if possible xx

That’s partly why I hadn’t due to my hematoma too but I’m pleased to say it’s finally gone so I’m hoping I can be brave and have a bath maybe every 2 weeks lol! Too scared to have more often than that 🙈

I'm paranoid too PrincessGurn1984 😆 Have only had showers, and am 14 weeks now. But the advice to get a thermometer, so I'm not relying on my own poor skills and awareness (I love hot baths 😅), is good, and might sway me! xx

Yep the thermometer suggestion is a game changer! X

I’ve had a bath every day since my 12 week scan! It’s my daily treat! x

I was so worried about this too. I did a mini survey of some friend with kids and all said they’d had baths with no issues. So I’ve been having one about once a week since 16 weeks. Baby seems to enjoy them, lots of kicks! Enjoy x

I bet it’s so relaxing and nice on back muscles and stuff! I’m going to go for it! X

I'm so glad someone asked this as I'm so paranoid too. I asked the midwife and she said it is fine as long as not too hot (how hot is too hot?!) but I've still been too scared to try. I might buy one of the thermometers and treat myself to a bath if the 12w scan is ok next week. 🤞🤞

Sounds like a good plan! I think because it’s winter too I’m more inclined to want a bath. Totally agree that 12 week mark is a game changer for feeling like you can do a bit more of the ‘normal’ things! Hope your scan goes well x

Thank you. I'm so nervous about it. Can't think of anything else so work is a huge struggle. Just want to go to sleep and wake up when the scan is over! Enjoy your (not too hot) baths! Xx

I was so nervous about this! I get perished as having lukewarm baths....Due to pelvic pain have had lots in this pregnancy.

I didn't have any in my previous pregnancy....
