Hi everyone! It’s my first time posting on this group I’m going for an early scan on Friday at which point I’ll be 6+4. My clinic are doing the viability scan the following week but as I’ve had some discharge early on I’ve booked my own one too that’s sooner so I don’t feel so anxious waiting as long. My question is do they do the scan with the wand at 6+4? It is a stomach ultrasound? I know I’m being silly but I’m worried if it’s the wand it might do damage 🤦🏽♀️ x
Scan on Friday 6+4 : Hi everyone! It’s... - Fertility Network...
Scan on Friday 6+4
The scan will be an internal one because with the external one they probably wouldn’t be able to see at this early stage. I think external ones can be used after about 8 weeks. I really don’t think you need to worry at all about the internal one, it’s really safe ❤️ At 8+6 weeks we had an internal scan in my clinic and we had the most amazing images, we could even see movement of the head and arms. At 10+1 we had an external one and while it was amazing to see the growth and the heart rate, the images were nowhere near as detailed. Sending you love
Thank you that makes me feel better about things, I’m hoping we will be able to see a heartbeat but it might be too early? X
I feel the same about this I’m a bit nervous that the internal one is going to annoy the cervix or something 😢 xxx
As post says it will be a scan using the wand as they would be unable to see much if they used the external scan. Let them know your concerns and I am sure they will explain the procedure step by step and hopefully this will reduce your stress levels
Take care
Janet
I had internal at 8 weeks and can understand your worry but they don't go in to the womb. It is just like an IVF scan in a way!
Hey, how did the scan go? Hope all ok x
Thanks it went well, she did it over my belly yesterday and saw the heartbeat and also heard it felt reassured after having had that light brown discharge at the start. Got my clinic viability scan next Thursday so have to hope baby keeps growing 🤞🏼 I had a double transfer and one stuck we also found out, so we are happy that this one decided to stick around 🥰
Amazing news - congrats!!! Also realised we’re the exact same day then… We had a double transfer on 16th, had some brown discharge too and cus of my history had an early scan on thurs (saw heartbeat for just one 🥰)… got viability scan on Thursday too. Will keep my fingers crossed for us both!
