Panicking over 3D image at 18+ weeks

Did anyone panic over these? I went for a 2D reassurance scan yesterday and the little one is well, they also showed me her face although there is my huge placenta in the way. But anyhow, they did a 3D image too and her face looks strange, panicking over her nose and lips and my anomaly scan at the hospital will be on 17th! I feel like this scan made me more worried in the end than I was before. What experience did you have with these scans?

Don’t worry about it, mine looked like a dragon from one direction and a lamb from the other 🙄

So glad everything was well 🙏 Like Holly said, don’t worry about the 3D one, My reassurance scan place won’t even do them until your 24 weeks because they can look so odd.

We had one at 24 weeks with my son and even then it looked like he had an ear attached to his nose 🙈 He hasn’t! Xx

😄 this made me laugh so much, Solly! Same same. My clinic done a little sneak peek on 4d at a gender scan, probably to sell the 4d at a later date actually and we were horrified that my boy looked like he had an ear on his forehead. Thankfully our shock was so transparent the sonographer took time to reassure this was not the case 🙉 xx

Hello lovely. We had a scan at nearly 24 weeks the other day and got a few v odd pictures! I believe they can a bit weird on the scans, particularly noses and mouths, as the amniotic fluid distorts the picture, them moving around distorts the picture, and they're also a bit squashed against the walls of the womb! If there was a problem, the sonographer would have gone through this with you. xxx

Our baby just moves too much to even get a 2D photo 😆. I can imagine those photos can make you unsettled but it’s so early! Baby is still very much forming, don’t look into it too much. The main thing is that so far baby is healthy and progressing. You’ll get to see the face soon. 🙂

Don’t panic, mine looked so odd, he really didn’t look like that when he came out!!

Agree with the ladies above due to their environment that’s keeping them safe it will create all sorts of things on the pictures and make some things not look as clear! I remember being so chuffed with our 3D scan and then my husband pointed out what looked like a blob on the side of his head! I was fuming and baby was born with no blob! 💙 baby is all good tucked up in their safe house xx

Try not to worry, when they are a bit smaller everything looks a bit ‘wobblier’! Both of my boys had really uneven features, then I had a 3D scan at 28 weeks with Tommy and he looked so much clearer but still a bit I strange. I’m sure everything is okay lovely xxx

My son at 16 week 4d scan, he looked like a really freaky alien. He came out perfect. They shouldn't really do the 4d scan so early because it just freaks people out!! Your baby will be beautiful 😍

Never had a 3D scan at this point, sounds like it’s made you paranoid which you could do without. Just remember everything is still forming… it’s really early days yet. We didn’t see a pic of the face until 36 weeks and she still looked odd then… perfect when coming out.

We had a scan last week at 17 weeks and they switched to 3D at the end. When we left we both said the baby looked like a CGI villain from a Marvel film!! I feel like it’s probably normal for 4D to look a bit funny, especially so early. The sonographer didn’t seem worried so we didn’t think anything of it. xx
