I’m currently 10+3 and my clinic said it would be ok to stop taking all my meds at 10weeks, which I did. Iv had spotting yesterday morning and this morning, just when I wipe going to the toilet and now my anxiety is through the roof. Does anyone know if this is normal? Iv heard the placenta takes over around this point but I’m just worrying now especially as I needed an extra prog injection as it was low at transfer. The spotting faded out yesterday and stopped at some point but now iv woken up with the same thing this morning. I don’t have any pain. Just looking for some reassurance.
Thanks all

Hi Catlover89, I stopped all meds at week 9 and I too had issues with low progesterone before. I had random brown spotting at weeks 7 and 10. Both resolved within 24 hours. I had my scan the day of my spotting at week 7 and they said it was coming from the cervix, not the uterus, and absolutely nothing to worry about. I had a scan about 3 days before the spotting at week 10 and they had confirmed my placenta looked fine for that stage. If you are worried, see if you can get in for a scan today/tomorrow for reassurance but know it is really common at this stage and usually all completely fine. Hoping it is the same for you as it was for me. I'm currently 37 weeks and have had no other issues through my pregnancy so far. Good luck xx
Thanks so much for your reply. That is reassuring. I think I will get a scan just to relieve the anxiety. All the best with the rest of your pregnancy not long to go now xx
I had some brown spotting as soon as stopped all the progesterone at 12 weeks. My clinic said it has nothing to do with it but I cannot think of another reason. I was checked and they couldn't see a reason for this. I had no spotting at all before this. It faded away after a couple of days. You can call your local Early Pregnancy assessment for advice. Both my clinic and the NHS staff weren't concerned.
I’ll echo what everyone else has said: call the EPU as they’ll likely offer you a reassurance scan and advise on whether progesterone needs to be extended. And contact your IVF clinic as well to see what they advise.
I had a bleed at 6 weeks from a haematoma (which led the EPU to recommend I take progesterone until 16 weeks as it was coming down in size slowly, and my IVF consultant recommended the same thing) and then another little bleed at 9 weeks due to the placenta growing over the cervix (which needed no treatment as placentas just move out of the way on their own).
There’s many reasons why we get bleeds and spotting in the first trimester, whether they can work it out or not, but it’s quite common and not necessarily a reason to worry. Sometimes it is related to the progesterone stopping, sometimes it isn’t, best to check with the EPU and your IVF clinic.
thanks everyone for your replies. The spotting has basically stopped now just as it did yesterday, but I have a scan booked for tomorrow just to be on the safe side. Thanks again xxx
