First scan in 2 weeks

Hello!

So yesterday we got our first BFP after our first IVF cycle.

I think I’m 4w2d but it’s a bit confusing trying to work it out!

I have my first scan booked in 2 weeks time so I think that’ll make me 6weeks. I’m just wondering what they’ll be looking for that early? I didn’t think there would be anything to see just yet and I completely forgot to ask the nurse when she called to let me know it was a positive.

We decided just to wait for the result of the blood test as I couldn’t bear the sight of another negative so I was in shock on the phone and forgot to ask any questions! 😅

Thank you!

It's used to confirm location and viability of the pregnancy. Our clinic don't scan until 7+ weeks as any earlier, you may not see the embryo or heart beat due to it being so small and you may only see a gestational sac and yolk sac.

Thank you, I’m a bit nervous in case they can’t see anything if it’s too early but my clinic have been right so far so I’ll just go with what they suggest! Xx

Hey 💗 I had a private scan at 6wks because I couldn’t wait for the clinic one at 7wks4days! I was able to see that it was in the right place, the yolk sac and see the fetal pole.

Don’t expect too much with the 6wk scan just that’s it’s in the right place xx

Thank you, i was expecting it to be at 7 weeks so was a bit surprised but at least I won’t have to wait as long! I’m a bit nervous now but just trying to enjoy the moment and not overthink it! X

Aww! My partner won’t be able to come with me so I’ll make sure I get a photo to show him ❤️

Congratulations Ziggy!! This is great news.

This is a really useful website for working out your due date and how many weeks you are: flo.health/tools/ivf-due-da...

And as others have said, 6 weeks is pretty early but you'll be able to tell if it's in the right place. Just don't expect to see a heartbeat etc or be too worried if that's not the case, as that can be just so stressful! I'd trust your clinic that they've booked it for the right time but any earlier than 6 weeks on the dot I'd maybe ask to push it back a bit ☺️ xx

Ah thank you that’s really helpful! I’d be 6w1d on the day of my scan so it really is on the dot! Xx
