hi All, I am currently 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant and have had a holidays booked for ages to go to Athens towards the end of this month.
I told myself I will not be planning holidays, trips etc around potentially falling pregnant because I’ve been on TTC journey for 4 years and it can really take over your life so we booked this holiday so we have something to look forward to.
we are over the moon that we’re pregnant and I can’t help but feeling a little anxious about travelling. I will be in week 7-8 of my pregnancy whilst we are away. I spoke to my clinic and they advised me it is safe but I guess I would like to hear some reassuring stories of people who traveled in their first trimester and that everything turned out okay.
I am planning on pretty much doing nothing whilst I’m away, read lots of books and chill in the shade. I guess it’s the air travel that I want reassurance on. I have read lots about it and can’t find any proof that it could be risky but still would be nice to have that reassurance.
I have been feeling nauseous and tired for the last 3 weeks, other than that I’m feeling ok. I am going on my first scan at 6 weeks 4 days on Friday 18th. (Before we travel)
thank you 💗💗

Congrats on your pregnancy! I did a two week holiday in Ibiza when I was 7-8 weeks pregnant and my four month old daughter is asleep on my lap as I type this!
I did a long haul flight and 10 days away when I was about 9/10 weeks - I felt so sick and missed out on all the food and couldn't manage the lovely non-alcoholic cocktails (and being sick on a plane is not ideal) but it was lovely to rest up. If you're doing injections (another tricky thing on a plane!) just bear in mind you'll need a letter to travel with needles - your clinic or GP can give you one. x
Thank you for your reply. I have started to feel sick this week and a bit worried it will catch me on the plane. I’m not taking any injections, only progesterone pessaries so won’t need one for needles xx
I did at 9 weeks, now 12 weeks. Spent the time being sick but honestly I would have needed the week off work. Between naps and eating a lot of French bread and nothing else, I slept for 15-16hours a day. I was on holiday with my in-laws so my husband was still able to have a good time and look after me.
However, I am still vomiting 4-5 x a day which is on the high end. Friends felt nauseous and barely threw up so it depends on you.
Thank you for your reply. So far I’ve felt nauseous and been dry heaving but not actually been sick. Its weird dry heaving suddenly hits me without any triggers. Is this how yours started? I’m 6 weeks tomorrow so still early. Hope you start feeling better soon 💗xx
I travelled a lot in my first trimester, for my job - did 4 flight legs to Heidelberg, 4 legs to Brussels, twice in one month, and 4 legs to sitges and back. So in total, I took 16 separate flights between weeks 3 and 11, with no issues at all 🥰 xx
hi All just wanted to update for anyone who needs advise on this in future. I went on holiday took 3 flights in total and just had an appointment for a check up and everything looks great 👍🏻
