I have a couple of questions about the NASH diet. Can I have whole wheat bread? What about potatoes? Also, is an artificial sweetener like Steavia ok? Thanks!

Whole wheat bread is great. But also try whole wheat sprouted bread very good tasting and very healthy. Potatoes are ok in moderation as with anything else.
Hi Blue
Whole wheat is recommended. As to Stevia, I don't know that we have enough research but it is commonly viewed as safe in small doses but it is not without its detractors. In mice it has been shown to be beneficial to the liver but the jury is still out so moderate use would be the plan.
Whole grain bread is what you want -- and that grain could be wheat, but also oats, barley, etc. Be careful -- "wheat bread" is NOT the same as whole wheat. Make sure you read the label carefully to make sure it says "whole wheat." (Also, look for WASA brand crackers. All whole, grain, very low calorie, high fiber. The rye crackers are great -- definitely the best. Mission "Carb Control" whole wheat tortillas also fab -- you won't even miss white bread. (Seriously!) Good luck!
Now anyone chime in if I am mistaken, but I Believe you are to get the type of stevia where only the plant lea es are used. The whole wheat bread with sprouts is very good.
Thanks for the advice!
