Movicol being replaced by Laxido

My 5 year old son has been soiling/constipated since he has been 3 years old and has been on prescribed movicol for the last 2 years. After a lot of pain, we are finally, over the last 4 months, at a place where we have established a dose and routine that has resulted in regular bowel movements and limited accidents. However, I have today recieved a letter from our Drs to say following a review they are replacing the movicol with laxido (which they assure me is the exact same) Has anyone had experience with laxido? My fear is that this change could result in us going backwards and after everything we have went through to get where we are, I really couldn't face that!

My daughter is on laxido and has no issues with it. We randomly ran out at the weekend (mummy fail moment!) and a friend offered to give us some movicol to tide us over for the weekend.... In the end I managed to get some laxido from someone else as I wasn't sure if it was the same... I spoke to the pharmacist this morning though and they assured me.that they are the same. Apparently they are "put together slightly differently but are basically the same" I have no idea what that means, but he reassured me that they are interchangeable and.that if I forget my prescription again I'd be fine to use movicol..... Hope that helps xx

We have experienced the same and I also felt nervous about the change from Movicol to Laxido (I didn't even get a letter just a different prescription when I asked for a repeat!) but I was also reassured they were the same and we haven't noticed any difference switching from one to the other. Good luck and I hope everything stays moving in the right direction for you. xx

It's reassuring to know that others have been in a similar situation and not experienced any adverse effects. x
