I had a laparoscopy just over two weeks ago, my doctor said she had found endometriosis on both ovaries but nothing too severe.... which i thought was promising after suffering nearly 3 years of pain in my side. But 2 weeks later i can still feel sharp pains were the stitches are (i have 3 incisions). i'm still limited to how much i can move and walk without it hurting and feeling bruised and raw inside. I've read loads about people that have recovered from a similar type of surgery and they seem to be fine approximately a week after, even returning to work! Everything seems ok, no infections etc, I think i'm just taking longer to heal maybe? has anyone had a similar surgery and a long recovery?

More than two weeks after laparoscopy...
Hi mileyh. This is all perfectly normal. I had my lap on 9th nov and they found endo attached to my womb which was stage 2. I was off work for a month after as i was so exhausted, got an infection. It took two months for the bloating to start to go down and still not back to normal and although the pain down my side has significantly reduced, i still do get twinges, esp around the time of the month. Going on the pill has really helped, once the side effects went. Also a better diet and remaining gluten free is helping!
Hope you feel better soon! It's all normal
Nic x
It entirely depends on what you had done inside you. The holes should be healing by now certainly, but inside is a different story it can take a lot longer to calm down.
It depends on how healthy you were before the op, how quickly your body reacts to injury and mends, how good your diet is now, how much sleep and gentle exercise you can manage to get. I'd give it a couple of months before deciding if the operation side effects are over.
I had diathermy (laser burning away endo) and an ovary, tube and cysts removed and I could still feel that for several weeks after, actually months is more like it, but I'm fine now.
The main thing to watch out for is infection, and that isn't sharp pain, but dull ache that spreads, and redness and fever etc. Any sign of that, then GP and antibiotics pronto.
Otherwise take it easy, you are bruised and raw inside and it will get better. Be kind to yourself and let it heal in its own good time. We are all different, the disease is different in every woman, and recover times will vary too.
Anyone fully recovered from a lap inside of 2 weeks is either super healthy, or did not have much done at all.
Even the super glue plugs and stitches in holes takes longer than 2 weeks to clear up.
Hi
Don't worry about those super humans lol
I agree wit the other ladies. I've had 3 laps. First 2 I was back at work after 2 weeks but I lost a baby in Dec, had 2 evacuations and a lap were they said they found endometriosis but I have been in and out of hospital in pain since then. Now been off work since late November as still struggling to drive.
Look afteR yourself and don't rush x
Hmm, I'd say it takes me 2 months not two weeks!
Maybe it is possible to recover much more quickly if it is just an exploratory op and they do no lasering or excision whatsoever, but only if you take the anaesthetic really well.
My next door neighbour is a retired GP and she is firmly of the opinion that after this sort of surgery you should spend at least two weeks going to bed every single afternoon. The more you push yourself the longer it will take to get better.
Can you call in to your GP surgery to get the nurse to look at the incision sites just to check they are healing properly and put your mind at rest?
Take care
I've had five laparoscopies and it's taken at least 3-4 weeks for me to recover from each one, and I don't have severe endo either. I've heard of people that are fine a week later which seems impossible to me!
Recovery varies from person to person so don't feel like you have to compare yourself to other people - the only thing I'd keep an eye on is your incisions, if they're still very painful then have a word with your doctor. If its just a case of have dissolving stitches and the area being sore and irritated by that, that's nothing to worry about.
As always though, if you're worried about anything, speak to your doctor

Hi everyone, thankyou for all the comments and reassurance, The incisions are getting better now, I had the stitches removed yesterday and already can feel the difference, The sharp pains have slightly reduced, the main pains are inside which i no will take a while to heal so im feeling a little more positive now I think the stitches were maybe pulling a little to much, they were supposed to dissolve and the then the knot on the outside fall off.... but that wasn't happening at all with mine. In fact i think i left it a bit too long to have them removed as the nurse was saying they were a little deep and had to pull to cut them. 3 weeks recovery down so not long to go, again thankyou for the comments, I'm trying really hard to take things easy and not rush the recovery process, knowing this is all expected from the shared experiences is a big help x
