Pilates is a great exercise for women, it make your pelvis stronger, i absolutely love it, it can be gentle and hard at the same time, no need to jump around and has results. xx
H, i agree. Pilates and yoga really helps me feel more positive too aswell as the exercise side of it. I guess we're all different and what works for one dosen't necessarily work for others and it does take alot of effort but when i am in lots of pain i find that just going out for a walk helps alot. Its just that when you are in pain i think generally you're inclinded to stop doing everything and wanting to curl up in a ball instead. It takes alot of willpower to make yourself do something active instead but i find it worth it in the end. I hope you find something that works for you x
Yoga is good, but just be careful as I noticed some of the stretches made my pain worse, presumably as adhesions were being pulled and stretched inside.
I find swimming is good . especially when my back and hips are sore .
I agree that swimming, walking, yoga and pilates are all helpful for me... when I get around to it! If you can exercise enough your bod produces chemicals called endorphins (a mild natural version of morphine) and that helps with pain as well as how you feel. xx
I'd second the above suggestions. I did try a beginner's yoga course a couple of years ago but like doodah says I found some of the stretching exercises difficult-possibly due to pulling adhesions from previous surgeries.
Nowadays I try and walk in at least one direction to work every day which is about 2 miles. Its not much exercise compared to what I did pre-endo days but is helps keep me fit without tiring me out too much. I figure some exercise no matter how gentle is better than none.
Walking definitely helps me. Taking the dog out is quite therapeutic. It gets your endorphines going which are natural painkillers. Also, it helps refocus your mind away from your pain and discomfort. Finally, I find if I don't walk everyday I seem to have more bowel related problems and also bladder. Walking stretches out adhesions that often go hand in hand with endo and subsequently gets everything moving better such as your bowel, which with this condition can often be sluggish.
