Has anyone tried acupuncture, massage , C... - Endometriosis UK
Has anyone tried acupuncture, massage , Chinese herbs ? Any positive results?
This lady tried acupuncture and healthy eating etc, I found her story reassuring that life doesn't have to be all over with endo.
xx
hi there skinnypiglet,
i tried accupuncture, but i didnt find much difference tbh. its very calming so if endo is making you feel tired or stressed its good for that, but personally i didnt like the needles and coming to terms with that i didnt find enough benefit to incentivise making it a regular thing. its also very expensive. you have to have an initial course of one treatment every week for a month before it becomes once a month (well thats what they recommended me). i would recommend trying it because if it works for you its minimally invasive. i think it works to do with bloodflow and energy, so in the case of endo i think it can be very useful as there is obviously stagnant blood involved with endo so i think it helps to deal with this. my advice is to find someone who specialises in accupuncture for endo and have a chat with them. depending on where you live i can recommend you who i went with. she was absolutely lovely. it just wasnt for me. she specialises in endo and fertility problems as well and had many success stories. inbox me if you would like to know more x
Thanks ladies. I've had one session in a Chinese place in Wimbledon. Like you im I didn't like the needles was painful! However was wondering to persevere as desperately tried everything so far and my periods are horrendous. X
i would persevere if you can. i know what you mean though. putting needles in the pelvic bone area and pubic bone area was horrible. it may not be a long term solution even if it works if you really dont like it. i couldnt even look when the needles were in me it freaked me right out. like a human hedgehog...sorry not helping i really would try a few more sessions if you can though. i went to the four sessions as recommended because she said that by then you should know if it does anything for you. then at least you can cross it off your list if nothing more xx
Hi, I've done this for a while although I'm stopping soon. It helps with stress as its so relaxing but I'm not sure if it has any effect on endo implants. They did recommend some herbs in the beginning but I was on so many pills and vitamins I thought I was overloading my body so I stopped. I don't like needles but the ones they use never hurt me. Couldn't even feel them to be honest. The ones on my tummy were only to the sides and just below my belly button. Only downside is that I bruise easily so had small bruises where the needles were placed but like i said, i never felt them whilst they were on me. A good acupuncturist shouldn't place the needles too deep in the skin anyway.
Overall I think it was good for a while but I'd like to try some meditation next. It will probably have the same affect and be a lot cheaper! x
Hello I have an aromatherapy massage every two weeks and my therapist blends the oil using ones for treating endo or for pain and cramps. She also spends a lot of time massaging the key areas and selects techniques which are a huge benefit to me and dealing with the endo. She keeps researching new things to try and see what effects that has on my daily life,. It has reduced the pain in my back and I sleep much deeper. It also has helped with the cramps I used to get x
Thanks for your replies. I bled last week after the acupuncture !? Though I felt relaxed afterwards I had piercing sensations through pelvis where needles had been. This lasted 2 days. Blackburnlass the aromatherapy massage sounds fab! Have a pain free w/e all ! X
