Bleeding on decapeptyl 3 month injection

Hi all

Needing some advice as I seem to have started heavy period bleeding today around 9 weeks after taking my first decapeptyl injection which was meant to be the 3 monthly and I'm concerned something's wrong.

I started the decapeptyl 11.25mg 3 monthly injection for the first time back in Jan (20th Jan) due to endometriosis issues.

This was following emergency surgery at the start of Jan 25 to remove a 8-10cm ovarian cyst that had grown from nowhere which hadn't been there when I had surgery (Aug 24) to get my Fallopian tubes removed as they were heavily damaged/infected.

Consultant suggested I take the injection to allow ovaries to rest and to ensure another cyst didn't grow given how quickly the last one grew.

I'm also on tibolone (add back synthetic HRT).

I had a regular period on Feb (which was 2 weeks after the injection and right when I meant to have the period)

I had no period in March (when I was due) so figured it had worked the way it was meant to but now just over 2 weeks after I should have had my March period I'm bleeding.

Is this normal? I'm concerned the injection hasn't worked the way it's meant to. Should I just switch to the monthly one? I'm due to get the second injection mid April so any advice would be massively helpful.

Hi i have heard this can happen on the three monthly ones, they tend to wear off after ten weeks. I'm on the monthly ones6and no problems x

Thank you for responding. I'm at the 9 week mark so likely it's either that and the low dose hrt has just given it a boost to wear off earlier or just my body being annoying as usual. Spoke to the doc this morning and she said sometimes people will have bleeds ie it takes time for things to settle down so it's apparently normal.

But at least it's good to know it's not cos the injection isn't working.
