Hi. I am wondering if anyone can help. I got diagnosed with Endometriosis is December and today I’ve had my first decapeptyl injection. When I had the consultation with my doctor about it I forgot to ask about contraception and whether I could continue taking my contraceptive pill whilst having the injection.
I asked at my doctors but they said I should get in touch with my consultant. But I can’t reach him.
Does anyone who has had the decapeptyl injection know??

My doctor told me that decapeptyl is used for medical induced menopause, so you cant get pregnant, because your ovaries are not active (you’re menopausal). I was on decapeptyl for 6 months and did not use any contraception.
Hope this helps and of course I highly recommend you talk to your consultant, too 😊
Hi there-just had my first injection last week and was told by my consultant AND gp to use a barrier contraceptive. Even though the injection stops egg production it’s not 100% and you could conceive! Sorry-I know you posted a few months ago but I’ve just joined this forum! This was info giving me: medicines.org.uk/emc/files/...
Thankyou so much. Actually I wrote this post I spoke to my consultant and he said I was completely fine not to use other contraception so I haven’t been 🙃 but knowing you could still conceive I now will. Thankyou!
