I use the mini pill but this month my bleeding is very heavy and the pain is so bad , all across my lower tummy , my bowls hurt , feels like I am being ripped open across my c section scars , I don’t think the mini pill is helping , I am 47 also have adenomyosis , does any one use the combined pill to help at my age ?

Have you had any recent investigations, or been seen at Gynae? If not it’s probably worth asking for a referral. You might have endo on your bowel as well.

I have adenomyosis and widespread endo and I found things got worse around menopause and you are coming to that age, The mini pill is probably not doing it for you any more. There are a few other things like the combined pill your GP can prescribe, as well as maybe stronger painkillers, but I would suggest getting Gynae involved again.

Hope this helps x

Hello yes I am on the waiting list as I need to see a specialist due to having two wombs , they have given me micrygon 30 combined pill to try and also gabapentin for nerve pain as it affects my hips and sacroiliac joint so going to try them , but it’s jus a case of waiting for gyno

I found it better than Pregabalin (which is another option) for side effects but everyone’s different. The main thing is tiredness, always hard to tell how much that is from the endo though. Have you tried amitryptyline or another antidepressant for nerve pain, these can also help ( as an option to gabapentin, if you're not keen on that?)

Yes I have tried amitripyline didn’t like it , it’s not all the time so just want something when the pain is bad and nerves causing shooting pain but I think you have to take Gabapentin all the time , do you take it for pain

Yes, it is for pain, and you do have to take it all the time. Doesn’t sound as if would be suitable for you then. What was the problem with amitryptyline? It can make you very dopey the next day, but taking it earlier on ( they usually tell you to take it at night) can help with that.
