Hello lovelies,I hope that everyone is as well as they can be. It's amazing how much women's health has been in the news this week and seeing all the brave endo warriors that have been sharing their journeys has been so refreshing!
Tomorrow is my surgery day. I'm having endometriosis excision, rectal shave and a full hysterectomy. I'm a bit scared and worried about the actual anesthetic, but I'm hoping this will help with my symptoms.
My BSGE is almost 100 miles away from home and I've been told that I just have to be dropped off and that my husband can't stay with me. I've also been told that I'll probably come back to the ward after visiting time, so won't be able to see anyone either 😭. This makes the whole process awful lonely.
Has anyone else been through this and do you have some guidance or support on how I can stay focused and not let my anxiety overcome me?
Thank you in advance 🥰

Hello I had 2 surgeries during covid and I had to go in on my own, it wasn’t the best but I was actually quite calm, which I didn’t think I would be as I would usually have my husband with me. Why are you not allowed anyone in now? Xx
They've said it's hospital policy. I won't be going down to theater from the ward as I'm being operated on in one of the main theaters rather than a gynecology one. When I had my first lap 2 years ago it was a similar process, but my husband was allowed up with me and then left. This was at my local hospital.
I think it's being so far away from home that's making me feel a bit sad xxx
Hello, I had my op 1st August. I also went in alone, mostly through stubbornness of showing anyone how anxious/stressed I was beforehand. I won’t lie, I was very anxious.. I am as a person though. I took fidget toys to sit with whilst I was in waiting, the consultant took one look at me and changed schedule so I could be operated on first. The nurses were all really lovely and supportive which put me massively at ease. If you’re struggling, just speak to them, they’re there to make sure you’re comfortable/ok.
All the very best of luck. Remember you’re you’re brave and strong. You got this xx
I hope your surgery went as well as possible and that you're recovering well. Please do let us know how you're getting on, once you're feeling up to it. All the best x
Surgery went really well. I ended up having to have a stent inserted in my left ureter, which will need removing in about 6 weeks. I'm actually feeling really good, much better compared to my last laparoscopy 2 years ago. I'm uncomfortable but not in as much pain as I anticipated. They are sending me home tonight, but there's been a blip with the pharmacy and my claxain injections!
Hey, it's good to hear from you. Glad to hear things went well. I hope you continue to feel better in time and can continue your recovery at home. Hope the pharmacy get your meds sorted asap. Take care x
I ended up being readmitted on Wednesday morning due issues my my stent. Luckily the stent hadn't moved and the urologists prescribed me bladder and kidney relaxants as well as pain relief! Finally home now, and still feeling pretty good!
