I have my gynaecology appointment next week and feeling a bit overwhelmed. I've had a gynaecology appointment before and they told me my symptoms were 'too painful to be endometriosis' so naturally I'm feeling quite nervous about going in and explaining myself for a second time. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey lovely! Aww good luck! I can't help with advice as I'm still awaiting my first appointment with them looking at suspected endometriosis, but I'm so sorry in regards to your previous response! How is that even possible for them to say that! If you don't mind me asking what did they conclude last time you seen them then? I'm very nervous myself and I hope to god that doesn't happen 😩 fingers crossed for you for your appointment next week! 💗🙌
I have no idea they just recommended to try chronic pain management and that they wouldn't do anymore but this is in a new area so I'm hoping it'll be better!! I hope you get your appointment too!
Too painful to be endo? That's one of the more ridiculous things I've heard on here! Endo is in the top 20 most painful conditions on the NHS website, so there is no such thing as 'too painful' for endo. I'm guessing that was a general gynae, not a specialist!
Do you keep a diary of your symptoms? Being able to show the gynae a list of symptoms and how frequently they have occurred is really helpful. I also just wrote down a list of everything that has happened to me since I started getting symptoms, as they often don't look at your medical records they like to get you to tell them everything, and I tend to forget stuff since I get really anxious at these appointments. Maybe write down any questions you have too if it helps you.
Just try to advocate for yourself as much as you can. Be clear about how much pain you are in. Don't let them brush you off. You deserve answers. Have you had any scans so far?
If they're not a specialist, you can ask to be referred to one. I did that. My general gynae just wanted to do a diagnostic laparoscopy without even scanning me first and refused to do a scan even when I asked, so I told him to refer me to a specialist centre. He did so straight away. It will mean a longer wait, but you'll be with the right people.
I had a specialist endo scan this week (and am currently paying for it still!)
During that the wonderful human being that was so patient and understanding was really listening to me (and I hope this happens for you to).
She asked me what has been happening and what are my symptoms, as well as any relevant medical history (ie. In the general region)
Except, I've commented on a lot of posts recently, but asside from the severe amount of pain that I am forever in, the brain fog that feels like dementia is the worst one. So the only tip I can give you is to write a list of your symptoms and maybe write when the occurance is or when it is most likely to happen.
I am absolutely going to be doing this when I see my consultant as sometimes they don't even glance at the medical notes.
And then also, make note of what you are hoping the result of the appointment will be. For example, if you are hoping for a laparoscomy and excision surgery then it's quite likely you will need to ask for it.
I truly truly hope you have a fantastically helpful appointment,
