Feeling like a failure.

I'm really struggling today due to having to take time off work due to my period. It's really heavy and painful. I tried to wfh but I couldn't concentrate.

Now I feel like I've let work down and the people are picking up my slack. I've cried all afternoon feeling like I'm failing because my body won't cooperate.

I usually try and work through but today I just can't.

Any advice appreciated x

Be kind to yourself, endometriosis is life changing and a painful condition, I used to feel absolutely disabled and immobilised on the first day of every period, and sadness and discomfort during ovulation.

I have been placed on progesterone 2mg, from February this year, which has taken the severity away. I still experience pain, but with painkillers, and anti-inflammatory supplements like turmeric, I am able to get my mobility back, I now have a new problem however, I am experiencing most of the side effects from the progesterone and questioning whether it’s worth it, but I have to pick the lesser of the two evils.

Watching my diet during the time of the month helps too.

Monitor yourself try out different things to find relief.

Hey,First. You're not alone. We, as women, tend to feel guilty when sick, which is absurd. Thanks to an amazing partner and friends I started accepting my condition and that it's not who I am, it's something I have. Also, stop feeling like your body is fighting against you. You and your body are together in this, and if you are kind with it you will face the flare ups better. For me it really made the difference.

More on the practical side. I removed almost all sugars and alcol from my diet because I decided that it was not worth it. And you have no clue how it improved my life. Now I notice that if I dirnk, the day after I have swelling in the abdomen and a bit of pain, but it goes away in a couple of days. I also went diary free because I realised that milk proteins were causing the severe bloating. This is not related to end but you might give it a try.

I'm not on any medication because the pill was having bad side effects, and I'm now better than ever.

Do I still get shooting pain in my leg the days before and during my period? Yes. Do I feel like dying while emptying my bladder during the period. Yes. But the days away ovulation and period I'm almost normal.

You can do this. Accept your body. Ally with it against this terrible disease.

I send you a big hug.

Not what you're looking for?
