I was diagnosed with Endo early this year. I was waiting so long for go referral ended up on the list for laparoscopy through a+e. I have 2 chocolate cysts and 1 normal cysts on left ovary. Im getting mixed advice on the surgery as to whether it diagnosed or can remove the cysts. Been in so much pain and really want it to help rather than having another surgery! Any help or advice would be so appreciated x

I had my first lap back in July and that was to diagnose and excision to remove at the same time. I would say you need to speak to the gynaecologist who is completing the surgery to clarify if he’s removing as well as getting a formal diagnosis. Also I would say make sure they specialise in endometriosis. Good luck x
like Bagel, my first lap was purely diagnostic. My results did swiftly move me to the front of the hysterectomy queue!
My understanding is, if it can be a ‘quick and non-complicated’ removal it may be done on the day. Endo will not be touched. But I could be wrong- just basing this on my experience.
hi both, thank you! My surgery is on Monday I’ve had my pre op but won’t know more until I’ve spoken with the surgeon on Monday. I’m hoping they take the cysts away at least! I don’t want lot of surgery’s if possible! I suppose I also don’t know how long recovery might take as don’t know what they are doing - they did say before they would try and drain the cysts and leave the ovary in tact.
