I had a diagnostic laparoscopy on Monday (today being Friday) and had two parts of endometriosis removed from the pelvic wall. Two days after my procedure I started to notice a weird sensation in my thigh the skin feels tight, numb, tingly (but not painful, no swelling or no change of skin colour). I went to see my GP about it and he doesn’t believe it is related to the procedure but I’ve only had this after the procedure.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I have Meralgia paresthetica which sounds slightly like this - a trapped nerve. I definitely had it before my first Lap but didn’t know what it was and it got worse after the op (more annoying/noticeable) I went to the Doctors after the first Lap and they said it could have been made worse due to having surgery. So it could possibly be this x
During the op gas is used to pump up your whole abdominal area to aid in the process, tissue and organs get moved around and tissue removed. All of this activity can cause swelling and post surgery inflammation. Tissue can become turgid with fluid for a while as its heals. Eventually most clears rather than it necessarily being anything more sinister or operative damage. The swollen tissue can impinge on nerves in the area and cause weird sensation where blood flow is restricted. Sometimes nerves can get bruised during procedures and that can take a while to settle down.
Regular short periods of mobilisation, drink peppermint tea and plenty of water while you recover are important as well as resting should help ease the swelling and congestion in the lymph system. Pain relief can also complicate matters albeit needed to help cope with the pain side effects such as constipation and upsetting the gut flora. Constipation can cause further abdominal pressure so lots of fibre rich foods like veggie soups, chia seeds will help ontop of keeping your fluid levels up. If you need laxatives talk to your pharmacist if your not already been given a box x xxxx
