Has anyone had a bowel resection because of their endometriosis?
I have a large ‘mushroom lesion’ that potentially could become an obstruction. I don’t have all the details yet but am just wondering if anyone else has had this/ had this op and could give me some insight.

Sure, not that I know that much. They are giving me a full hysterectomy and at the same time a second surgeon will either resection or (they hope), just shave my bowel to get it free of the endo. It really does hurt to go to the loo so I am just pleased someone is going to do something about it before things get worse / blocked completely. He said only 1 percent of his patients need a bag thingy afterwards. Phew. Odds are I wont then. Screw that!!
Initially with this issue I was referred out because they thought I had bowel cancer due to the amount of blood in my stool. I’m only 27 so I couldn’t believe it. They removed polyps during a colonoscopy which were not malignant thank god but then they didn’t know what to do with me.
I told gynae my issue and they knew I had bowel endometriosis and sent me for up to date scans to bring to an mdt - they now know there’s a big leison- no clue how the colonoscopy didn’t see this!?
Sorry to hear that. Perhaps they didnt see it because the lesion could maybe be pressing in from the outside?? Not that I have a clue what I am talking about though. I had blood too, and had to have a colonoscopy first to rule out the big C. SO much fun that is. I also had a massive belly and had stopped going to the loo for a week maybe? It got pretty bad, but sorted itself out somehow and now it just hurts to go. I mean, gripping the walls crying, that much pain. Cant wait for it to be hopefully over. Hope they sort yours out soon, its just so depressing.
