drinking too much water

I wondered if anyone experienced this or had any insight into why this happens. I have endometriosis and adenomyosis as well as fibroids. Around the beginning of my period or just before, I can’t stop drinking water. I will drink until I’m bloated and even sick at times but I can’t quench the thirst, it’s awful. Any thoughts? Anyone else have this?

I have no idea why you feel dehydrated it may be linked to your blood sugar levels but if you are thirsty like that you need to drink something with electrolytes in it like rehydration sachets rather than plain water.

If it is really worrying you I would go to the GP. They will probably test you for diabetes in the first instance, and depending on the result maybe for other things.

That is so interesting, I had never made the link with my cycle before, but I have adenomyosis as well, and have been told repeatedly by doctors that I drink too much water. But I really feel thirsty and have a dry mouth around periods too. One thing I thought about and am trying to observe is whether it might be due to physical stress or my body temperature heating up, as my body is tensing and in pain. And drinking hot drinks (like herbal teas) helps more.

Get your blood sugar checked both the immediate and long term. It maybe that the variance in hormones pre period including the drop in oestrogen as well as progesterone are affecting your electrolytes.

Hi, sorry know this is 2 months old. I have high prolactin levels during my cycles (also Adenomyosis and Endometriosis). Endo has links to high oestrogen which has links to high prolactin. Stress also causes high prolactin (severe pain).

High prolactin can cause alot of thirst too. I drink alot of water as standard 3+ litres a day and alot more around my cycle x
