Hrt/ endo: Been on HRT for nearly 3 years... - Endometriosis UK
Hrt/ endo
Morning. Are you able to click on my profile and read my recent posts? I’m 53, post menopausal and been on HRT since 2022. Now experiencing bleeding and much pain (especially at night) My GP was happy to up my Utrogestan to balance the Oestrogen and for the moment that’s all I can do. Lots of ladies on HRT present with bleeding and it should always be investigated if it’s after a long time on HRT. I’ve had the all clears for cancers. Hysterectomy not always the answer. My endo was all over including bladder and bowels so I’m not keen to go down that route knowing it’s a huge op and even then, no guarantee of being pain free. It would stop the bleeding of course. It’s a minefield. Have a look at the British Menopause Society Guidelines (just altered last month) that deals specifically with this issue. There has to be more research and help for us HRT/Endo sufferers than what is currently out there. I was pain free for ages when my periods stopped (life-changing) but even last night up and down to the loo, changing bedsheets and taking painkillers. Such a bummer. Endo is the gift that keeps on giving. As if we haven’t been through enough already!!!
Hi Elsie400,
I’m really sorry you are in so much pain with endo , I had endometriosis and adenomyosis and was in so much pain since about 2018 , I tried zolodex for 2 years before eventually having a total hysterectomy , I can honestly say 7month after surgery my pain is gone and I never thought it would be possible but it was very much work the 12 weeks of recovery I went through
If it’s adenomyosis then a hyster will help but it won’t help endo. That needs removing fully at the same time.
Being on hrt with endo you need a combined continuous hrt. So both oestrogen and progesterone.
I have been on continuous hrt for 3 years x
