I'm waiting for surgery for laparoscopy for stage 4 endometriosis found on my ovaries, uterus and bowels.
I've been really lucky that I don't get really bad symptoms and most of the time I can manage the pain. I sometimes get painful periods but with medicine it can be okay most of the time. But I've lately had problems with emptying my bladder? I've usually had this problem and I know it's a symptom of having cysts on ovaries, but I feel like it's gotten worse?
Sometimes at night when I'm trying to sleep I'll need to get up 3/4 times to go to the toilet - even though I haven't drank anything since before 7pm! It's also making me embarrassed at work, having to leave my desk so often to go to the toilet. I'm not sure if there is anything that can be helped with this? If I even went to my gp would they be even be able to do or give me something?

I have bladder issues, I went to the GP a few years ago and they did urine tests and found microscopic haematuria. They sent me to Urology for a cystoscopy but they found nothing. This was before I started down the Gynaecology route. Turns out my bladder is fused to my abdominal wall due to severe adhesions found during Laparoscopy last month. Have they said anything about whether you have adhesions?
If you have checked you don't have a urinary tract infection, then what about doing pelvic floor exercises to help control which means you may not need to go so often? Hopefully that may help. X
I also have bladder issues (stage 3 endometriosis). I was under Harley st for a chronic UTI and had long term antibiotics and hiprex. I think though it's the ending causing the bladder issues. I also get microscopic blood in my wee. I think the organs are so close to each other and connected that it's normal for them to impact each other. I feel for you. I deliberately dehydrate myself to stop the frequency but I know that's not good either.
Hi Hobbitty, I have the same issue! I got my endo diagnosed and removed Feb 2023 but had ongoing problem emptying my bladder. They eventually did urodynamic testing which showed I was actually retaining urine and needed to use a catheter temporarily. I would ask for an ultrasound on your bladder 'post voidal ' scan to see if you are emptying your bladder or whether it's just irritated by all the endo. I'm now awaiting surgery to do a cystology test and widen my urethra as they think it could be a condition triggered by endo called fowler syndrome where your urethra narrows. Figured I'd make you aware of this as took a year before they would believe me that I wasn't emptying my bladder! Hopefully you have more luck but push for more tests now then they can atleast give you some medication to make it less annoying. They prescribed me solifenacin which really helped!! Best of luck x
I’ve been suffering exactly the same issues. A combination of Endo on my bladder and Pelvic Floor dysfunction due to pain and spasms. If your pelvic floor becomes tight, it give you the same symptoms as cystitis. You need to start doing pelvic floor exercises to relax your bladder. Theres lots of videos online. I also just had 5 sessions of Accupuncture to relax central nervous system and bladder and I’m finally sleeping straight through the night.
