Hi, I had a laparoscopy two days ago and I've been getting a pain when I lie down in my right collar bone and right lower side ribs. It gets worse when I breath deeply. Did anyone else have this, or know the cause? Is it just the gas they put in?

Rib pain after surgery
Hi! Yes, I got the same pain and also in the shoulders! It was from the gas they used to expand your abdomen during surgery. Gentle exercise helped to move the trapped gas, just be careful 🙂 x
Hi Giraffegreen, yep, I also had the same - collarbone & ribs pain. It is an effect of the gas. Mine lasted for 6 days after the lap. Peppermint tea & gentle walking helped. I started with very short walks and gradually built up. Hope you feel better soon x
Hello
Yes you are quite right it is the trapped gas pain. It can be very uncomfortable and quite painful at times. Try peppermint or get some medication from the chemist explaining you’ve just had surgery they will give you something to take
Speedy recovery
