I had a Mirena fitted 5 weeks ago to help with endometriosis. I've had light bleeding/spotting ever since which shows no sign of stopping. I'm not sure I would have gone for the Mirena if I'd known as I don't need it for contraception. Anyone able to advise on how long this is likely to last?

Mirena and spotting
Hey my lovely, I remember a few years ago when the marina was pushed on me too... i thought it would help with my extremely severe period pains...just an FYI no one seems to be able to give an honest answer, the spotting/settling pain of the marina, can last for months. I remember I had mine removed after 10 weeks, I couldn't live with that, i bled everyday, was in extreme pain everyday and added weight!
Hi, I had mine fitted in October. My light spotting stopped 3 weeks ago. I didn’t think it was going to stop as it felt like it was going on forever. They say to give it about 3 months to let it settle in so I just rode it out.
hey lovely. I’ve had mine in for 6 months now. The light bleeding/ spotting lasted about 3 months for me, then it settled and I only bled when it was my period. I do still bleed now 6 months in during my period but it’s a lot lighter than it used to be before the coil. I do get annoying brown discharge just before and just after my period but that was the same before the coil too. Overall it has helped lighten my bleed and I don’t get cramp as often either, but 6 months is a long time to wait xxx
Hi, I have been on mirena almost 2 years. The spotting took a few months to settle but I actually started getting spotting again but I'm unsure if it's related to ovulation or something.
For the most part I was happy with the mirena as it made my periods almost none existent. I just use a normal daily liner it's so light. However I'm having some issues with my pain again not sure if it's mirena related or not but I'm going back to gyno to see what can be done.
At the end of the day do what feels best for you and your body. It's a long and annoying process sometimes but just talk to different doctors until one listens to you about what you want. I'm starting to learn that also 😊 good luck with whatever you decide is right for you x
