Hey everyone. I had my Mirena fitted about six weeks ago and have been spotting ever since. I know it is normal to be spotting for a while and I have learnt to ignore it but just wondered how long is normal?

I was still spotting on and off until my mirena "fell out" today. I had it put in January of this year.

It was great for my heavy periods but the almost constant spotting was a little annoying. It didn't help with the pain I suffer and if anything it made it worse.

Hi it does seem to vary but average time to settle is 3-6 months. It took mine 6 months but it was certainly worth the wait. Yes it is frustrating and always had to wear a panty liner but it really was light spotting. I hope it works for you as it did me, good luck;) J x

Hi

I had mine fitted in March and didn't spot for a while, then continual for 3 weeks and now it's on and off. I'll be spotting for a day and a night and then it'll stop. I think if you contact your doctor they'll say it's normal and to wait until the 6 month time.

Hi 1st month I bled for 3 weeks out of 4. This month I had a week of pmt, bad mood, gained 4lbs of water weight then had 4 days of light spotting so I'm thinking that was my period! If this is how it's settling it's going to be a real life changer! Seems to be different for everyone. I have been taking a spoonful of blackstrap molasses though as I stumbled across some reviews of this on line and people swear by it for shortening periods and lessening cramps so who knows?

Had mine fitted 3 weeks ago and have bled quite heavily since. I was advised that I could have spotting/bleeding for up to 6 months. Just totally drains you xx :-(

6 months! I guess I have to just get used to it haha. I know it will be worth it if it helps the pain. Thanks X
