Have you had a scan?
Hello OP,Assuming you are in UK or where process is similar based on my experience:
If you have surgery to diagnose rather than MRI you will most like have a laparoscopy. This is one of the least intrusive surgeries. It is called keyhole surgery as you will have a small scar on your belly and a second one on your belly button. One for gas and one for the camera/instruments. They are tiny as the incisions are small. This is why it is normally an out patient treatment as you have and can normally leave same day. It is quite short as surgeries go and recovery time is minimal and the ones I had were quite pain free.
Normally they don't treat it during this surgery as the aim is to diagnose and see the extent (pain and security aren't always linked) and then a follow up surgery to remove which will vary depending on how bad it is and location. That said it is possible if it is an easy case they remove some there and then. They will advise you if this is the plan in pre-op.
Recovery for me was a bit tummy ache and sore but not major and that is with an errant toddler spotting the stitches and trying to pull the end out which was more painful than the rest of the recovery 😅
Hope this helps at all.
