Hi, I was diagnosed with PCOS at 21 after years of horrific periods. I had the mirena coil fitted for 6 years. No periods, but did get random crippling pains throughout the month and spotting. Had the coil removed July 2022. For the first 6 months my periods were perfect. On time, one/two days of bleeding, not much pain. Then they slowly started to get heavier and more painful. Since last August the pain and bleeding has been horrendous. I just have one day that is ridiculously heavy then it suddenly stops. For the past 6 months I’ve also been getting severely bloated leading up to the start of my period. I’m also getting random pain throughout the month that feels to be coming from my bladder and a sudden urge to urinate. For the past 3 months I have had an upset bowel the day before I start my period where I feel like I’m getting bowel spasms and suddenly need to go to the bathroom.
My Mother was left to suffer for 20+ years with endometriosis before the hospital finally gave her an hysterectomy and she had to have half of her bladder removed as her endo was so bad. She has said my symptoms sound very similar to hers.
Does anyone else with endo have these symptoms?
Thank you in advance <3

Definitely go to GP for referral to Gynae, symptoms sound like it could be, but you also need to check you don’t have a UTI. Endo is believed to be hereditary, first Gynae asked if it was in my family, my paternal aunt had it and I’m sure my mum did but undiagnosed.
There is a good chance it was suspected when they fitted the coil, just failed to mention that little bit.
I have PCOS and Endo. I always thought the PCOS caused the pain, but actually once I had my excision laparoscopy the pain went away. In my opinion it isn't typical that PCOS should cause pain (not excruciating pain like endo anyway). It may exacerbate symptoms of endo, but yeah you probably have both. I also had endo removed from my bladder, so yes get it seen to! No need to have a hysterectomy if you get it early.
I'd ask for a referral to specialist endo center. Gynae have been known to mis-diagnose, gaslight, not check correctly, etc. Good luck xx
