Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with severe endo last Jan. I have low amh (3.5), my tubes are blocked with hydrosalpinx.
I started my first round of IVF in November and sadly it failed. At my first consultation, my consultant gave me two options - a laproscopy (does this remove some / all of the endo?) or IVF. I am 35 and with my low amh, I decided to go for IVF as the waiting list for the laproscopy on the NHS in Northern Ireland is at least a year.
Throughout the IVF process, I couldn't stop researching the dangers of hydrosalpinx on the embryo and this really worried me.
I had my post IVF consultation last night and the consultant said he didn't think hydrosalpinx was the sole cause of the failed IVF - I had a day 3 transfer and this maybe lessened my already low chances.
He suggested draining the hydrosalpinx during egg retrieval if I go for IVF again. Has anyone had any experience of this? Does anyone recommend me trying anything different before my next round of IVF?
Thank you all so much in advance xx

The doctors said I had a blocked tube but that wasn’t true as I opted to go for my surgery ( they checked then)they where messing me round abit to much so decided to go for the surgery as I know it was needed in my case and I knew I had 2 eggs to transfer afterwards .
I did ivf first , 1 cancel cycle, was bascialy told from the start donor eggs, egg collection , 1 failed fresh transfer .
Had surgery in July and now pregnant from my transfer in sep .
I was told I could start ivf again after 6 weeks surgery, i personally didn’t want to waste any time to as the clock was ticking for me and my health condition is very severe.
Good luck with it all , you do what’s right for you aswell x
Hiya Jade2006, thank you for your reply. That is such lovely news about your pregnancy - congratulations.
Did you have a laproscopy surgery or fallopian tubes removed? Did you have your egg retrieval first and then get them frozen? Then surgery and transfer?
Ask away any questions just drop me a private message .
No it wasn’t that fresh embryo , to be honest that was very painful and I had no confidence in that doctor that did my transfer .
I requested a different doctor the 2nd time , and had gas and air because it was so bad the first time but to be honest I was stressed out to the max and took anxiety tablets too to try to help destress.
Hi Endowarrior36! I am from NI as well and just about to start my first private ICSI cycle (I just turned 36). I have severe endo, stage 4 with kissing ovaries, a 5cm cycst on a ovary and a lot of adhesions. I was on the NHS list a couple of years about but they took me off it because of my weight. I had considered the option of surgery first but was told this would reduce my fertility even more! Also the surgery wait time in NI for endo surgery is years, unless you pay to go privately. I waited 2 years just to see a NHS consultant! So chanced my arm and went for a private consultation for IVF in January. I was told at my first consultation at the private fertility clinic that there was some fluid in one of my tubes. They did not seem overly concerned about this.... apparantley this is common for endo sufferers? They were happy enough to proceed once I gave them results from a Hysterosalpingogram I had done last year (which showed both my tubes were adnormal but patent). They think despite the mess I am inside they may be able to access one of my ovaries. Fingers crossed! I am also asking at my first nurse appoinmtent this week about the possibility of having Endometrial scratching. If they offer draining your tubal fluid I would do it if it was me! If it may improve your chances go for it! Also I found just pain wise that an anti-inflammatory diet and reducing my carbs intake to under 70grams really helped with my endo symptoms. I eat largely a vegetable based diet now with some lean protein. I can't say if with will help with the ivf (hopefully?) but it has helped me feel a lot better. Good luck on your next cycle.
Hope you're doing ok I had blocked tube due to hydrosalpinx also have endo. My clinic advised me have them removal apparently they are toxic to embryo. Sadly I lost both had one failed cycle got two embryos left. PM me if you want to chat more x
