Maternity clothes?

I'm having my next lap next Saturday, and was thinking about what loose clothes I have to wear post surgery. I don't really like loose clothes, but I have so much bloating with my endo / adeno that I am forever walking round at home with my jeans unbuttoned as it's so painful. It just occurred to me that maybe maternity clothes could be far more comfortable as they could expand with my stomach and presumably not be too tight post surgery. I don't have any as I've never been pregnant, but wondered if anyone has gone down this route either while struggling with bloating or post surgery?

Hello i often wear a long nighty if I’m in the house and not going out, you get some pretty ones 🩷or a maxi skirt so that sits higher up on my waist and drops over my stomach and that hides quite a lot 🤣x

Thanks! I think a nightie / dress would work best for me. My pain goes right up to my chest, so even loose skirts are uncomfortable.

Post lap I got myself a 2 sizes too big men's jammies and it worked a trick. For going out I have loose dresses and sweaters.

used to wear maternity jeans pre-op because my stomach would swell so badly, especially throughout the day if pain would randomly start up - they were a treat and I’m debating on keeping wearing them to be honest 😂

A dress can be more comfortable as you have no tightness around the waist, good luck with your operation. Xxx

I’d recommend a lose pair of jersey or cotton dungarees in a size up. I lived in mine after my hysterectomy. Along with a super cosy jumper dress! I’d also suggest asking whoever is picking you up from hospital to bring a pillow to go under your seatbelt. It helps if the journey is a bit bumpy 😁 good luck with your op x

Everyone is probably different. I wore just loose jumpers, T-shirts and very loose PJ bottoms indoors or sweatpants when I went outside.

I found high waisted joggers with a wide waistband to be the most comfortable and a nightdress at home.

I love the enduro leggings by BAM . Comfortable, stretchy, soft warm or cool and slightly supportive.

Hello,

I bought myself two cheap pairs of joggers a size bigger than normal and a soft pair of Primark leggings a size too big and lived in these with hoodies and sweatshirts for a few weeks!

Good luck xxx

Thanks everyone for the great advice. It's been 13 years since my last lap, so I couldn't really remember what I'd done before, but I think it's a bit different this time round as my starting point before surgery is chronic bloating due to the inflammation. I suspect it's going to fee far worse post surgery initially.

I can't cope with joggers now as the weight pulls on my stomach, but BloomingMarvellous , your mention of the BAM leggings reminded me I have a pair of GAP leggings that I've had for years that I find incredibly comfortable as there's no waistband to dig it. I've also got myself a pair of maternity jeans and then I'll manage with some looser dresses. Hoping it gets a bit warmer as it's going to be freezing without tights, but I have a couple of pairs of knee length socks!
