Hi, I wondered if anyone else experienced this and found it was linked to their endometriosis. For over a little while now I've been getting increased pressured back pain, and it's developed into hip pain with this weird electrical type pain shooting into my thigh, it then rounds the back of my leg and behind my knee. Then my calf feels like it's going to cramp all the time and when I try to put shoes on so does my foot.
I've tried exercises, tried different sleeping positions, one of those pillows that goes between the legs and even a new matress yet its still there.
I'm not sure if it's related so I wondered if anyone else had this

It can be down to more than one thing and we can have all or any combo of these problems. Developing DIE in pouch of Douglas and across the nerves & affecting the sciatic nerve. Often not viewable easily and can with a specialist MRI sometimes be located. It can come from the uterus being pulled out of alignment with endo lesions making the tissue weaker and adhesions . The uterus is held in position by a ligament that is three fingers width ( no surprise given the work it has to do potentially) . If this ligament is put under pressure with a bulky or misaligned uterus the whole pelvic girdle will get pulled out of position and cause referred nerve pains. This means it will increase the pain levels pre /during periods.
Which nicely takes the question of how much intra abdominal pressure is increasing -caused by tissue change, weakening of the fibre, hormone dysfunction, thyroid issues, adhesions, increased pressure from poor bowel and urine function, poor hydration and nutritional status, stress , past trauma, breath holding and poor pain management all factors in both endo and pelvic pain. Weak pelvic floor means more pain generally and needs particular care. It will cause more pain. More pressure in the lower abdomen the more pain. Try looking at @corerecoverypt for discussions around this.
All these possibilities need checking out as the question over DIE maybe the endo spreading and certainly needs expert medical care as it affects not only mobility but bowel function. The rest can all be picked apart gently in your best manageable way x
Hi there, I also suffer with pain in my hip and thigh and also sciatic nerve pain. While it has not officially been linked to endo, it does follow a pattern of increasing pain during ovulation and menstruation. I managed to reduce the pain significantly through a combination of physiotherapy, medication (I found amytriptaline very effective) and a mini tens machine. I had MRI to check out other possible causes for the hip/sciatic pain, thankfully no structural issues there. I'm still waiting on an appointment with a neurologist to rule out any other possible causes as it's important not to assume every issue we have is linked to endo only
I'd also like to know if it's linked. I've had hip pain for about 15 years which is constant but worse during my period. When I was diagnosed with endometriosis 4 years ago I asked if it could be linked and was basically laughed at. I've been referred for physio twice for the hip pain but it always makes it worse.
Yes it probably is very much related. I had similar pains during my period and ovulation earlier before diagnosed officially with deep infiltrating pelvic endo lesions. I also had lower backaches and calf fatigue and pain then later diagnosed with Adenomyosis too. Since I had a surgery for removing endo and adeno last year all those pain are gone! I can’t believe how much I suffered all those years from terrible pains in pelvic, back and legs without any doctor acknowledging these.
During all those pain the only things gave me temporary relief were advil and heat pad on legs, back and abdomen but in last two years before surgery the level of pain was crazy and extended to 3 weeks instead of only period times ( I did 5 times ivf and stim drugs made everything worst) so I took so many advils naproxen Tylenol and they hurt my stomach badly i was literally dying from all this nightmare and crying my everyday life was so affected that I quite my job so I went abroad for getter rid of these by a skilled surgeon.
Before that I had 2 times laparoscopy here 2017 & 2019 without them removing endo or adeno. Even after the second lap still the surgeon here was not sure about the definite adenomyosis and only removed one fibroid having me 8 hours under anesthesia 😫
I hope you can find relief from all this pain soon.
Btw I just remembered there was a chinese herb combination pills helped with my endo pain a lot when I was taking it at least 2-3 weeks before a period. It is used in Chinese medicine for the same purpose of giving relief of endo pains and exit blood stagnation from body. There are a lot of herbs I cannot name but if you are interested pm me so I find and send a link to that.
Hi, I'm so sorry that you have experience the pain is exhausting. I had this paind for 2 years before was diagnosed with endometriosis stage 4 and was particularly during sex. I had my laproscopic operation to remove my endo from all Douglas of Pouch ,bladder, bowel, ovaries ect. Now don't have this pain, so definitely is connected for me.
