It's my first time posting on here. I had my endometriosis diagnosis this week through a laparoscopy. It's been a long fight to get to this point so I feel relief that I finally have a diagnosis. I just wondered if anyone could help put in laymen's terms what my results mean:
She had adhesions in the right flank and to the sigmoid colon, which were divided. She had a
pararectal nodule and endometriosis on the left side wall and uterovesical fold, which has
been completely excised with the Harmonic ACE. The upper abdomen was normal.
I know I will see my consultant for a full debrief but before then I'm just interested to understand what this means and how deep my endometriosis was. Any help on turning this into normal language would be great.
Thank you

How are you feeling? As well as relieved to get a diagnosis 🙂
The sigmoid colon is the bottom left hand corner of the large bowel, just before the rectum, the flank can be hips to rib area. The wall would be the pelvic wall, the uterus bit, not exactly sure where they mean, but wondering if it’s close to the pouch of Douglas, probably need to look that up.
Nope, uterovesical ligament(redirected from uterovesical fold)u·ter·o·ves·i·cal lig·a·menta peritoneal fold extending from the uterus to the posterior portion of the bladder. So possibly Endo connecting uterus to bladder or close to.
Harmonic ACE is just the tool they use to take away the Endo.
Keep a note of any questions you want to ask the consultant, don’t try to remember it all. If you request a copy of your notes there maybe more info.
Thank you for helping to unpick the medical jargon. I'm just trying to understand what was happening inside my body and why I was feeling pain and having issues in the different areas. I also want to know how deep it was to know my chances of it being gone or coming back... I know it's not that simple but I just want to be in control of something.I'm feeling sore, tired and dizzy. All as expected I guess. I'm just not very good at resting so 4 days in I'm already getting bored lol
It’s important to remember the healing internally, you’ve had a lot taken away and moving organs around, it’s not just the incisions you can see. Don’t underestimate what you’ve gone through 🙂
I know what you mean, after being out of control with pain we want to understand why. Unfortunately, although you’ll get some answers, it’s a matter of time. All very frustrating.
