endo and fertility

hey guys,

So ive been really really worried about being infertile. Me and my partner had been trying for a baby for a year and a half before i got ill. Ive tried looking into endo and infertility but i cant find much.

id love to hear some of tour experinces. Do you have kids? Did you need help concieving? Has endo made you infertile?

I understand that this is a very sensitive topic so i thank you in advance for your replies

Sorry I can't say about pregnancy but if you've got diagnosed Endo then you should be able to get IVF sooner than the normal time period. I was told six months. Also have you had a hystoscopy to check your fallopian tubes are clear?

i havent had any surgery to check yet. I didnt know you could get it sooner, thats good news

If you’re awaiting a diagnosis though, please do be aware that there are long wait times to get a lap

You can get a hystoscopy without having a lap. It's a camera scope they put into your uterus to check the cavity and they then put dye through your tubes and it shows if there's any blockages. My sister-in-law who doesn't have endo was given one when they couldn't get pregnant. Might be worth asking your consultant if you have one or asking your GP the best route to get one if it's something you want to do x

I have stage 4 endo, which I didn’t know I had until after I had my daughter. It is very possible to have children if you have endo but it also can make it tricky. It took me a year and half to have my daughter. When she was 2 we started trying for a sibling. It was at this point that my periods started becoming a lot more painful. I ended up having a scan and laparoscopy to diagnose stage 4 endo. I tried for 6 months after the surgery and then ended up have a further surgery to clip my fallopian tube, before proceeding with IVF. We had to go private because we already had a child. We have just had a little boy after a second round. It’s been a bit of a journey and I changed my diet etc and tried everything I could to be as healthy as possible. If you’re worried definitely get some tests done. You can get your AMH checked through a blood test from the GP to see what your egg reserves are like. Wishing you all the best Xxx

I came off the pill to try for a baby when I was 29 and struggled to conceive so it was investigated firstly via blood tests from my GP which showed abnormal hormonal levels. I was referred to a gynaecologist and was diagnosed with PCOS. I then tried some drugs called clomid and metformin to help stimulate my ovaries to ovulate with no success so had a procedure called ovarian drilling. During that op I was diagnosed with stage 4 recto vaginal endo. I tried for a little while after that to get pregnant naturally but it didn’t work and my periods got so painful - it was unbearable. I then had extensive surgery to remove the Endo and ended up with a temporary stoma whilst the join in my bowel healed. I had this reversed 7 weeks later and 2 months after that when I was feeling better I started IVF aged 32. I fell pregnant on my second go and had a miscarriage at 9 weeks then fell pregnant again on my fourth round and gave birth to my daughter who is now two. I went on to use my final frozen embryo last year and fell pregnant with my son who is now 4 months old. Sorry for the long story but wanted to share what happened and to give you hope that I got there in the end and now have two beautiful happy children.

My sister also has endo (no way near as severe) and fell pregnant naturally with both her two children in her 30s after not very long but she doesn’t have PCOS like me.

hiya, I was diagnosed with pcos. When I had an op in February for ovarian drilling, I was also found to have endo which was removed at the same time.

I done a pregnancy test on Saturday and it was positive! Myself and my husband have been trying for three years and this is our first ever positive.

Don’t lose hope, try not to scare yourself by Googling too much (been there, done that). Stay positive as there is still a chance you can conceive.
