Hi everyone ☺️ this is my first post and really just after some advice at this point. I started my periods age 10, had horrific cramps in my teenage years and hormonal migraines. Never considered at the time that this was anything other than 'bad periods'. I went on the mini pill age 17 for contraception (couldn't go on combined pill because of migraines) and my periods stopped completely so I was very happy!! I'm now 37 and stopped taking the pill 13 months ago to start a family. My periods returned straight away and I was relieved that they were not too heavy or painful. About 4 months ago I started getting cramps during my period that were bad enough to warrant taking painkillers but this managed the pain quite well. Since then the pain has got worse but not as bad as when I was a teenager. It's VERY painful to have a wee or poo during my period. I've now got pelvic pain (burning sensation and dull pain) and diarrhea. We've not conceived yet, blood tests have come back normal so we've got a referral to a specialist. Has anyone experienced similar with the pill and is it worth going back to the GP (not yet discussed this with them) or wait to see the fertility specialist? Thank you!!

Suspected endo/fertility issues
hiya, I also got put on the pill at a young age due to my heavy periods and being so painful.
I came off the pill 3 years due to trying to conceive. After a year of trying I was referred to a specialist where I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was put on a medicated trial for 6 months to help conceive but unfortunately didn’t work.
Due to my periods being very heavy and very painful (I would be laid up on the sofa) I ended up having a laparoscopy in February where I also got diagnosed with endo (luckily mild) so they removed it.
I’m 35 now, and still trying to conceive but having to stay positive.
I would wait till you speak to the specialist (I’m assuming fertility specialist) as they’ll be able to do more for you then your dr now.
Good luck with it all 😊
Thank you, I think you're right, GPs can be really limited in what they can do.Good luck to you too 😊
I got my period when I was almost 16 and never in my life I ve taken the pill except for 6 month to treat some cysts. Since I started ttc in 2018 my periods got lightet but I started spotting. At ovulation, before period, after period. Every month I thought I am pregnant. In April 2020 I got confirmed that I have endometriosis. Nobody told me to take the pill because I was trying to get pregnant. Every month u do not take the pill to stop your period you increase your chances to get mor adhesions. I know it's a bad circle which I cannot stop because I want children. I am doing IVF because the endometriosis destroyed my tubes and is impossible to get pregnant naturally but I am waiting for another surgery to take my tube out which is filled with liquid to increase my IVF chances.
I'm really sorry to hear that you went through that. I hope your next surgery and IVF are successful 🙏🏼
Thank you so much. I skipped your question at the end. Yes I would wait for the fertility specialist because in my experience they are much better . My gynecologist dragged me for almost 2 years in her office until she sent me to a specialist. They will know if there is something because they will do the most important fertility tests. Good luck on your journey and don't stress yourself and don't google to much if it's stressing you. I kind of made this mistake of reading everything and being scared after. Also my gynecologist stressed me a lot she was always speaking in riddles so that made me turn to google as I was very confused.
