I am due to start the Moviprep this evening, before my colonoscopy in the morning. As it stands none of my worry is for the actual procedure, it’s just for the prep! I’ve heard horror stories about it… and after being super poorly about 3 weeks ago in hospital with sepsis (due to a bowel infection) I’m still feeling quite weak, and naturally worried that the chronic diarrhoea isn’t going to help at all. Any tips to get through this evening would be hugely appreciated!

hi. No tips I’m afraid. I found the prep harder than the procedure as well. I found the prep easier to drink from the fridge so it was cold. It’s a lot of liquid to take on and it works quickly so stay at home and near the bathroom. Good luck tomorrow. X
sorry I didn’t see this sooner. I managed over three quarters as I didn’t want to be told they couldn’t do the procedure as colon not empty. It is truly horrible so I totally understand the struggle. Hopefully you’ve managed most of it and today goes well. Make sure you have a treat in for later. I came home and slept for hours.
Colonoscopy can't identify endo in the bowel btw, you need an MRI for that. The move-rep has quite an effect, I'd call it volcanic. Stay near the loo, have some wet wipes handy it will only be horrible for that day it won't go on and on. The colonoscopy can sometimes really hurt so if it does ask for a sedative, if you have bad endo it's likely to be painful if your endo isn't too bad it should be okay. It's not nice but it's just for a day and then you can go back to normal. You'll just have to be brave and think it's just for one day, it can rule out lots of bowel problems but doesn't show endo as endo tends to grow on the outside of the bowel not inside so do check you really need it. Good luck xx
I had colonoscopy before I was diagnosed with Endo. I know now Endo is growing into my bowel, so pain was unbearable during colonoscopy despite sedatives. I ended up with a gas mask 🤪
