hi I am one day post surgery for stage 4, they’ve advised I can go home but when I use loo for a pee, although I’m peeing a lot, there is still 750mls left in my bladder, they won’t let me go til it’s under 150mls….any advice, is there anything I can do to get this moving!! Thanks in advance 🤗
Post surgery - bladder help!: hi I am one... - Endometriosis UK
Post surgery - bladder help!
hope your surgery went well!
I had the same issue, had surgery Monday and have had endo removed from bladder and ureter, it took me quite a few days to be able to do a good wee.. I think because it’s swollen from the surgery, just keep drinking little and often xxx
thank you! Were you in for long afterwards I’d you don’t mind me asking?xx
I went home the same day but they didn’t measure how much wee I had, just said I’d been for a wee and that was ok for them but I was worried for about 4 days after as i wasn’t doing a strong stream, but it has improved daily now! Have they said they will keep you in or out a catheter in? Xx
they’ve sent me home! I was retaining urine the the last bladder scan there was less than 150ml retention so out I go! Honestly I am worried as I feel rotten, seems v soon to be out and I don’t feel like I’m peeing properly but hopefully it will improve with a few days!
sooo happy you’re home! 💝
Oh god, sorry you feel so rotten 😞 I felt the same until today really (6 days post op) the first night I even got in the bath to try and wee because it was the only way I felt I could 😂
it’ll get easier though I promise! Just keep drinking and sit on the loo for as long as you can to make sure it all comes out 😂 Xxxx
Thanks Laura! I am just all over the place but hoping this will help! Not looking forward to my flight home but needs must! Glad you’re on the mend xx
oh god you’ve got to fly! I don’t envy you at all, the sooner you’ll be in your own bed the better though ❤️ hope you have a speedy recovery love xxx
currently in a taxi en route to airport, thankfully the flight is only short but even this drive isn’t going well! Thanks so much, appreciate the love xx
I hope you got home safely and your bed is making you feel better ❤️ xxxx
Thank you, home and in bed, pain under control but just having a bit of an emotional rollercoaster! It’s so much to go through isn’t it, wouldn’t wish this on anyone x
I think with it being keyhole you are made to feel like it’s not as big of an op as it is.. but your body has been through a lot! And mentally it’s a lot to process! The anaesthetic can make you feel really emotional too! I hope you’ve got a good support system around you ❤️
thanks Laura, definitely I don’t think people realise how big an op it is! Especially being discharged the next day, it makes people think well they can’t have done much. I have good support thank you but I still feel really lonely and emotional, hopefully a few days and I’ll be feeling more like myself, thank you xx
Hi,
I had the catheter after surgery for 15/16 hours then I needed to pee multiple times into a bed pan for them to measure & they kept measuring how much was left behind in my bladder as I wasn’t emptying it completely.
They kept me in overnight and discharged me at 12pm the next day as I was in pain after surgery too.
A different consultant did the rounds of the wards & decided to discharge me, otherwise the nurses were talking of putting the catheter back in which I was panicking about.
Hope they discharge you soon so you can rest properly at home
Good luck with your recovery! x
I’m lots better thank you.
The pain for the first few days is awful. Make sure you rest & keep hydrated.
It will get better with time, honestly.
Get well soon. xx
I had surgery last month and was also initially struggling to empty completely, the nurse suggested double voiding. Pee, wait 5-10 mins then try peeing again and i was able empty it. Might be useful while still recovering and not wanting to make as many bathroom trips! Hope it’s going okay!
Hi there, Sounds like you have inflammation/ bruising. Perhaps a infection? Ask for some antibiotics you can take some home with you.
