Hi, I’m 3 weeks post op and my insides feel good apart from my bowel and the hot flashes. I know it’s not an infection. I had rectal nodules removed too. All lady bits are in situ so nothing removed but after approx 4 days I started experiencing hot flashes (approx 8 on a night) and 5 during the day. I’m 44 but I didn’t show any sign of perimenopause prior to surgery. I specifically wanted everything kept in as I felt 10 years too early to have them removed. My bowel also feels like there’s an extra bend in it. God that sounds bizarre! So I’m not constipated because everythings too firm it’s as if it’s got sn extra journey to go through. I was having lower spasming in my tummy in the mornings when I knew I needed the loo. I now can go days… help… I feel like I’m going mad! Hot flashes are really getting me down as I’m not sleeping.
3 weeks post Laparoscopic Exision of Grad... - Endometriosis UK
3 weeks post Laparoscopic Exision of Grade 4 Endo. Bowel problems and hot flashes…
I know I had temperature issues as well (first week I was freezing cold then hot flushes at night). It took probably 4-5 weeks to settle. Also may be worth getting some stool softners if are allowed them and also drink like a fish! Deffo check in with docs to be sure. I felt really down too but I needed time to mend...its just frustrating when you want to feel normal again!
Hi Pinky_37, I’m so glad you asked this, as I am having the same symptoms as you. I am 1 week post op for removal of bilateral endometriomas. The hot flashes make me feel dizzy and I also have the painful spasms in lower tummy, which started four days after surgery. I keep wondering whether my symptoms are ‘normal’ or not. I have felt tired and surprisingly low in mood too. I’m trying to really keep up fluid intake as BlueGiraffe9 suggested. Be kind to yourself and I hope that you feel a lot better soon! Please would you let me know how you get on, as you’re 2 weeks ahead of me on your healing journey 🧡
hello!!! Oh wow that’s great to hear (that I’m not alone not that you’re experiencing it). It’s really hard to google as everything just refers back to having your ovaries removed. I keep reading about the HM hormone. My lower spasm has got a little better but my bowel is still not back to normal. It can be days and the food is still going in. Last night I only had hot flashes at 3am and 4am not all throughout the night. That’s given me some hope? People just automatically assume it’s the onset of the menopause which is driving me bonkers. How old are you?
Hello, it’s so reassuring to know that some symptoms are normal and may settle in time. I am so glad to hear that your hot flashes are settling a bit!! I am 42, so like you, I decided to not have ovaries removed, or hysterectomy- but I do have adenamyosis too, so I’m not sure how many symptoms are from this and how many may heal in time after my surgery. Yes, it’s really frustrating when people just suggest peri menopause!! But then after yrs of GP’s saying that the pain and symptoms were normal and just take paracetamol, we should be prepared for that 🙄😕 I hope that you continue to feel much better each day 😊 x
