hormonal issues- is it the mirena coil?

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone could give me advice, but I have been diagnosed with endometriosis last year and had my first laparoscopy surgery and all went fine and feel a lot better than I was before.

I have got the mirena coil and have had since last year, however I’ve noticed whenever I am due on I still suffer with bad anxiety/depression, get bad cramps on my left side, fatigue and just feel an emotional wreck 🙈. I just wanted to know if anyone has experience this and if so any recommendations of what I can do to help it? It really takes the toll out of me and just want to control it some way ❤️

Thank you

Hey, sorry your feeling this way.. I had the coil fitted last year but only managed a month with it before I had to have it removed. I was in so much pain with it that it doubled me over on occasions. I actually told the doctor that it was more painful than the endo. I pushed hard at the doc and they gave me an emergency scan to see if the coil had moved. It hadn't and the nurses who did the scan said to give it chance and let my body get used to the coil but I said I wanted it out. I'm now on the implant and taking magnesium tablets a lot of my oain has gone, I still get some pain but at least its not all thr time. I hope this has been helpful

hello lovely, it’s sounds like you’re going through a lot. I’m so sorry it’s rough right now. If you talk to your GP that might help? I know it’s a battle to get an appointment but it might be a good first step?

If you do that. They are likely to say persevere and so the more you register your symptoms, the more likely they are to agree to take it out.

Mirena’s dont suit everyone and personally I’m a fan. It was a struggle at first but 2007 to 2018 they gave me my life back with no Endo symptoms or pain or heavy bleeding. I have one in again now and it helps loads.

You must do what you feel you need to and I wish you all the luck to try or not try as you see fit. Here if you want to DM me or not.

Huge hugs 🫂
