7 months after Laparoscopy, still have thick brown discharge!! URGH. Why?!?

Hi,

I had laparoscopy in May’22 to drain two endometrioma cysts inside my ovaries which lead my ovaries to grow from 2/3cm to 10cm, kissing ovaries they called them.

4 months after surgery I had a scan which revealed my ovaries looked ok but 2 new 6cm cysts had grown outside of my ovaries. My surgeon was worryingly happy with the results, he said “this is great news! The cysts are nothing to worry about”, my discomfort & bulge in my belly when I lay down tells me otherwise.

Anyway, problem is, 7 months later I STILL have this brown thick sludge almost every single day! A panty liner doesn’t cut it, I have to wear a pad. My surgeon said “we’ll it can’t be from the surgery bcuz it went perfectly well”, so he suggested I get a smear bcuz it must be another problem, I did & it came back fine. My surgeon said he doesn’t know why it could be and discharged me and skipped off happily down the hallway. Looks like this Laparoscopy brought on more problems - now the muscles behind my belly button and scars feel SUPER tight (myofascial massage should help) & I have this permanent brown discharge which im given no help with?! Plus more cysts.

Can anyone help with this? Do you have / had this? Anything to help it? Holistically maybe? Do you know why it might be? Desperately seeking some answers. It’s literally put a halt on my sex life too.

Thank you xx

Sorry to hear you are going through this. I had a 9cm endometrioma last year and it wasnt constant like yours but between my period and ovulation i had brown "discharge" i spoke with my consultant and he said it was likely that the cyst was leaking. After my surgery to remove it i didnt have it again.

Maybe ask to be referred to someone else for a 2nd opinion?

Thank you, this was really helpful to hear actually. I didn’t think of the possibility of it being a leaking cyst. I will ask to get referred to someone else for a second opinion. Thanks a lot!

if you think you’ve been discharged too early it might be worth trying the hospital PALS service?
