Severe Bloating

Hey ladies,

Does anybody have any advice to help with the bloating. I look about 6 months pregnant and feel like my stomach is so tight which is really uncomfortable . Went to doctors who put me on the pill which I can’t start for another 2 weeks until the dreaded period arrives 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just feeling so frustrated with my body now and doctors just feel the pill will be a cure. The way my stomach is feeling I would take any advice right now just to relief some of the pressure. Also for no more incidents with jeans popping open at work!

thank you x

Hi Nicky01-

Lovely to hear from you. The endo belly is real! Especially in the hotter weather? I find it uncomfortable too. I'm yet to speak to a health professional who can advise on bloating, but what helps me sometimes is to tweak my diet as certain foods add to the inflammation that endo is already creating. The types of food that might trigger bloating probably differ for each person, so it's worth looking into it yourself. I also find that drinking a lot of water can contribute. Finding some loose fitting/stretchy waisted trousers can make things a little more comfortable during the day, especially if you're working. Sorry can't be of more help, wish someone had the answer!

Take care,

Claudia

Hi Claudia,

Thank you for replying. Just wish there was a magic cure for endo belly as it’s so frustrating! My diet is pretty much the same thought as I have the meals from gousto so have the healthy options. I thought that the weight gain was just due to foods I eating but noticed it happens more when I am bloated. Also can’t lose weight which again is annoying and seems like a vicious never ending cycle 😩

I usually wear loose fitted leggings but recently it seems to irritate my stomach more.

Hope you are doing well x

It is really frustrating, especially when you're trying everything you can think of to treat it! I am sure that hormones have their part to play here, and we have little control over them, so remember to be kind to yourself 😊 I have heard that the heat can make women more bloated, but don't quote me on it as haven't read any scientific research to back it up 😂 ...just hoping that things start to settle down. Remember you're not alone with endo belly, I'm sitting here with it right now! X

I have heard ginger and peppermint may help however I don’t like either so not tried yet, at this point I think I will take the plunge 😂 hope your endo belly settles soon. Hoping mine settles a little so I look 5 months pregnant tomorrow instead of 6 🤦🏻‍♀️ X

Thank you for sharing this I've recently realised that my bloating is worse in summer and the heatwave is not helping, there's days where I just don't care I never eat and just feel like 20 buses ran back and forth over me. This little community keeps me sane

I found lemon and ginger tea really helped. I drink gallons of the stuff. If you add a slice of lemon it’s a bit more bearable. Also peppermint tea and peppermint and licquorice tea if you don’t like the taste. Yoga helped me too. It never stopped the bloating but did make it easier. Best of luck x

This probably isn’t what you want to hear but I’ve gone dairy and gluten free, and have massively cut down on sugars - carbs/booze/sweet stuff and it makes the world of difference. I try to have more protein and a tonne of veg, lots of green leafy stuff but as much variety as I can. When I have a boozier weekend or have a few days in the week where I’ve eaten loads of toast or not enough veg, I notice I get really bloated again. I went to a nutritionist to help me and I really recommend it to give you guidance on how to tailor your diet to you and what supplements you can take to help. Mine directed me to the Christine Bailey diet which is all about hormone balancing and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Totally feel your pain here I permanently look six months pregnant and I’ve had enough! To the point where random strangers ask me when I’m having my baby and they do not believe me when I tell them that I am not pregnant because I clearly obviously am!

RUDE!

I am currently trying to look at amending my diet to see if it helps I’m starting with cutting out gluten I am on day two(wish me luck)

I am currently on prostap injections for endometriosis and this just makes a Bloating so much worse!

Sorry I cannot be more help try looking at your diet xx

If you haven't already it may be worth keeping a food diary to see if you notice if any foods trigger the bloating. Even healthy foods like pulses and broccoli can cause bloating in some people. Peppermint tea can help ease the pressure a bit too.

Thanks for all the responses ladies. I have started yoga so hoping this will relax my stomach area and I think next step I will try is the peppermint tea. I will also start a food diary after the bank holiday as I am going on a long weekend away with alcohol involved 🙈

Thank you for all the advice, I am hoping once I start the pill this will also ease the symptoms. When I asked the doctors they couldn’t really advice much and just wanted to trial me on the pill first before trying anything else

Hopefully can get rid of this endo baby!
