Do I take them?

Hey people šŸ‘‹šŸ»

I hope youā€™re all well and continuing to push through.

I wrote a post a few weeks back about not having had a period following the completion of Zoladex in March 2022.

Since that post, I had a telephone appointment with a GP (annoyingly someone at a different surgery - they all combined šŸ˜ž- who didnā€™t read my notes, had no idea about my health history etc..) where I explained that I wanted some advice and maybe some medication to induce a period..

She just gave them to meā€¦

I know what youā€™re thinking - ā€œWell that was easy, Yay!ā€ But Iā€™m not so sureā€¦

A part of me is now slightly worried about taking them. What if I just canā€™t control the bleeding? What if I shouldnā€™t have taken them? Will my consultant get annoyed? My anxiety is just at a whole new level (Once again).

Any advice?

Not sure how long you were on zoladex for but I think my periods took a long time to come back and as far as I was concerned the longer the better! I was grateful it took so long (I think about six months) because it kept the pain away. Personally Iā€™d wait and let it happen naturally but could you give your consultantā€™s secretary a call and get the consultants opinion?

Thanks for the reply. Iā€™m going to get the tablets (as they were sent to a pharmacy) but I think I will hold off.. thank you! I donā€™t know how long for though!

You donā€™t say why you are seeking to bring the bleeding back early after a suppressant . Am sure youā€™ve got a really good reason if the GP has come on board though.

You might not feel comfortable with what am saying next though but itā€™s what I would do if in your shoes and said with all the love. Your body will take the time it needs to adjust and get its rhythm back afterwards and forcing it isnā€™t necessarily going to be helpful or painless . Instinctively, Iā€™d seek my consultantā€™s opinion on the matter even with the GP agreeing with your need. Itā€™s always good to work as a team where you can and get them to understand how things are for you - how else can they really get it right for you and measure the outcomes for your long term care ? Hope you get the support you need
