Doing the hospitals admin for them!

Just a bit of a moan about the way hospitals talk to each other (or don't in my case).

I had an MRI in January at my old hospital. They then referring me to a specialist centre after their findings. My new hospital then requested my results in February (according to my old hospital they were never requested). Finally my surgery date came up (next Friday) and they can't find my MRI results. I spent last Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and then today chasing my old hospital (who claim to have now sent them) and my new hospital (who claimed to not have them).

Finally this afternoon after phoning 11 different telephone numbers, each given to me by the last I can confirm they have results. 6 months late. I am just so frustrated by the fact that I had to spend so much of my time phoning and coordinating to get results that the hospital was supposed to get and clearly were not going to have in time for my surgery. I've been so worried about my 2nd surgery as it's more invasive than my first, and they were going to have to go in blind or it even be cancelled due to nobody taking ownership.

It shouldn't be the patients responsibility to make sure they have everything they need to operate.

After all this I am off to buy myself a cookie for all my troubles!

Rant over :)

Have a couple of cookies for all that hassle this morning, you are right you shouldn’t have to chase people up, I thought it was all done electronically to save all of this paper?!!! x

The cookie was great! haha. It was all on computer but they kept asking for it to be faxed. Nightmare!

Hope you enjoyed that cookie 🍪

All very frustrating, very glad you finally got it sorted.

I’m waiting for MRI results myself, was told 10-14 days, it’s been nearly 4 weeks and after phoning today was told it hasn’t been processed yet.

Wish you lots of luck and the best recovery after your up coming surgery. xx

My nearest specialist isn’t my local so it’s a nightmare when I am admitted! They didn’t even believe I had endo (I’ve had five ops for it lol!) but in the staffs defence a large part of it is to do with their IT systems.

That's so annoying. My hospital is in London and I live about 2 hours away which is not ideal. It's so frustrating not being believing. It can be maddening! I hope they get up update on what sounds like Windows 95 on the hospital computers soon.
