tampons/ menstrual cup after excision

Hello,

I had a diagnostic lap that turned into excision three weeks ago today. I was totally out of it in the recovery room, so if I was given any after care advice don't remember. Recovery has been up and down, with the belly button incision becoming infected, but I've finished a course of antibiotics from the GP and am definitely on the mend.

I'm going on holiday tomorrow, and due my first period post lap (my operation was during my last period). I'm hoping to be able to swim. Any idea if it's okay to use tampons or a cup, or should I stick to pads this cycle? I have a pair of modibodi period bikini bottoms to try too.

After surgery I was always told no tampons but cups were never mentioned. I’ve recently started using a cup and it’s a game changer so totally understand where your coming from.

I’d imagine a cup would be fine due to the less likelihood of tss/infections but I’d limit usage and go back to a pad when home/able to
