In two minds as what to do?

Hi,

Firstly I am new to this forum, and I am looking for some help, apologises for the long post and TMI!

I am 29 and going back to when I first started my periods, around the age of 14. I suffered the usual normal periods pains etc, nothing to painful to handle. However my periods where never regular, they where always up and down, I went to the doctors but they said it was nothing to worry about. Until I was about 21 where I went about 6 months without period I then decided to go on the revigdon pill, I never noticed any problems and it felt good for me .

Along with the irregular periods I suffered with a lot of bloating, and stomach pains etc, I was bleeding and had mucus regularly from by bottom, and suffered from constapation one day and the next really loose stools. I went to a gastronolgist which referred me for a colonoscopy, the colonoscopy was clear and that I had IBS… so fair enough, I carried on with life. Being into three years into a relationship with my partner I started to notice really painful intercourse, as if the feeling something sharp is hitting the cervix that sometimes led to burning sensation afterwards however this would only last for about 5/10 minutes. I also can’t bare the pain of a smear test, a tampon, or a pelvic examination. Along with this I suffer really bad with fatigued, tired legs, lower back pain and period pains had started to get really bad for the first 2 days of being on my period.

6 months ago I decided to come of the pill, to see if it would change anything, the only thing that it has changed is the period pains I don’t seem to have them! (Let’s hope I’m not jynx-ing it) however all the other symptoms are still there along with my irregular cycle sometimes the longest is 45 days between! My flow is light though sometimes you could call it spotting, also along with this I have been informed through my blood test that my ferritin is very low! Could this be connected do you think?

I am booked in for a laparoscopy in August, as they think it could possibly be endo, since getting the letter I am starting to doubt myself as to whether to proceed with it? And I’m absolutely worried at the thought that they might not find something, would you recommend to still have it done? I don’t want to waste anyones time. I have had a ultrasound and it all came back clear.

many thanks in advance!

Hi Lindle, Thank you for responding, yes I get really bad lower back pain, and suffer with ache/tired legs a lot! Sometime the back pain can feel like it starts from the middle of back right down to my lower back.

I am not going to get into your physical stuff because I can not diagnose but if you in the UK or if you have a regular doctor with a nurse attached to the surgery, if you able, talk to your nurse about how you feel about examinations like smears. Seeing a nurse you can trust can greatly improve the situation. Worrying about having someone strange touching you if you are sore can really be awful. A nurse you trust may be able to give you time and have techniques that can help you. Suffering is just the pits.

Hey! Welcome ! :) first of all I will start by saying please don’t apologise for any “TMI” I don’t think there’s any such thing as that here haha! And secondly I’m sorry you’re going through this! I’ve had an ultrasound and it came back all clear except from a fibroid however ultrasounds don’t show endometriosis so I’d defo recommend you still get yourself checked! And at least if they don’t find anything they’ve ruled out something else and can keep investigating! I know it’s scary but you deserve to “waste peoples time” because the pain you feel is valid and you deserve answers! I have a friend who has just had her third surgery - the first she was told they found endo, the second she was told there was nothing and the third was by a specialist who even had to remove her appendix as the endometriosis had ruptured it ☹️ Get the checks done - if you don’t feel satisfied get that second opinion! And most importantly take care of yourself and don’t ever let anyone make you feel like you are wasting their time! You know your body and you know if something doesn’t feel right! Xo
