I had my first lap yesterday, everything went well and I feel strangely okay today, except the usual tenderness.
I was really groggy when my consultant came to speak to me though, and it didn't help that he had to shout over someone being really loud!
I remember him saying that they had found some endo, I think he said that my womb was clear (probably a good thing) but that there was some on the pelvic wall and on/in between my pelvic wall and my bowel? He also said it was superficial and that they'd removed it.
Has anyone else been told this? Is there a likelihood that I have endo in other places as well, even if there's none in my womb? He didn't say anything about my fallopian tubes even though he told me beforehand that he was going to flush them out.
I had a hysteroscopy too.
Thanks for any advice or information in advance!

Endo in the womb is adenomyosis and can't be seen at a lap and is different from endo, in so far as endo is outside the uterus. They can occur together although not always and the presence of one doesn't predict the presence of the other.
You should have been given a discharge note saying what had been found and done.
Whether or not endo might have been missed will depend on the expertise of the surgeon - only a surgeon with a special interest in endo should do a lap for it. You should have had a scan before the lap so was this done?
I had my laparoscopy last November he told me I had endo but didn’t tell me if he removed it didn’t tell me where either on my discharge notes just says I have endo I’m finally hsbing an app To speak to gynaecologist Monday have seen anyone since I kinda felt like I’ve been out of the loop with the whole situation since I had it done as there is such a back log just make sure you phone up for follow up appointment as I didn’t receive a letter I had to phone myself hope you’re feeling ok x
If they don't get back to me in the next few weeks I'll be ringing up, don't worry! I'm feeling pretty okay at the moment, a bit uncomfortable in the morning and the gas pain isn't helping! x
If this was on the NHS you were lucky to have an advanced endo centre surgeon do a diagnostic lap after clear scans, so I think you have to assume nothing was missed.
Thanks Lindle. I'm autistic so it's difficult for me to understand what people are saying to me verbally sometimes, so I was just looking for a bit of reassurance given my discharge notes are so brief.
It's taken me a LONG time to be seen by a BSGE specialist on the NHS, I'm not taking that luck lightly at all.
Hi!Regardless of what you have or had……don’t ever let them rush you out . When you go back for follow up ……be armed with questions . If he rushes you make him answer again clearly . Tell him you’re on a web sight with 60,000 women who have experienced HORRIBLE pain and have had doctors tell them a couple inaccurate rushed sentences . The website INCLUDES DOCTORS with Endometriosis.
Write down the exact questions (5? 10?) example:
1) Will it grow back?
2) Where exactly did you look ? (He will really try and rush that one)
3) Was the blood all on the inside of uterus or was there any on the outside and what would be the difference?
(Actually keep it simple : was there any blood outside of my uterus)?
4) Where exactly did you remove endometriosis? (Uh no doctor please tell me where EXACTLY did you look and where EXACTLY did you remove )?
5) It’s NOT POSSIBLE that cysts go away ……so I want to know DID YOU REMOVE it? The cyst ? (Mine slowly grew and was attached to my ovary).
6) Did you look for it ? The cyst? If it showed up once did you look for it ?
Good luck. Don’t leave until he answers and makes sense . If he doesn’t…… please tell him it’s ok if he doesn’t know the answer. Just to please be very clear and to say I don’t know …….instead of a rushed made up answer .
